how do you wash your car?
i just washed mine and i was curious about how you guys wash yours.
first i water down the car. i then scrub my water/shampoo base detergent on the car. i then water it down and dry every spot with a nice chamoin (sp).
do you guys try to scrub around fast so the soap doesnt dry up? is it bad if it dries up?
also, what products do you guys use for each step that you do?

depending on the car...my dd's get a lil automatic car wash, if they get washed. the sports cars get a full hands on hand wash, followed by any buffing they may need, then they get glazed, an underbody coat and then the windows and interior panels are last, cause I suck at cleaning windows and plastic.

I pre-soak the car then I use a sponge to apply the soap. After that, I spray the soap off with my hose and dry the car using a synthetic rag that absorbs water.
I wax my cars about three times a year.

ohh shit... no you didnt.. well here are my steps:
1) 2 5 gallon buckets, 1/4 cup of Megs goldclass wash, 2 sheep skin mitts, 5 different micro fiber towels for each job, my hose, my goldclass diluted in a spray bottle for wheels and wheel well, megs tire brush, megs wheel brush, and some stupid brush for wheel well and backing up the car a few feet.
2)first i pour 1/4 cup of goldclass wash in the CLEAN water bucket then i spray the hose in it and fill it half way. then i fill up the other (dirty mitt rinse) bucket up to 3/4.
3) set the hose to the highest setting to spray down wheel well, under the car, and wheels. spray my diluted wheel/tire spray on the wheels and wheel well. use the different brush for each job. hose down wheels when done. spray the whole car from top down.
4) with the sheep skin (the one thats meant for the upper body) already dipped in the clean water bucket with suds i clean the roof first. after each panel i rinse the mitt in the dirty water bucket and then pic up more soapy water from the clean water bucket. when im done with the upper body i switch to the other mitt for the lower body (bumpers etc etc) and continue on. if the car starts to dry i just lightly spray the top and let the water soak down
5) hose the car slowly from top down.
6) i whip out the waffel weave micro fiber towels. i use the one meant for the upper body first and dry down the roof. and work my way down the car. i use another towel for the lower body. another for wheels, and another for door jambs when im done witht he car.
7) it depends if im lazy ro w/e or if i have to do the other car... if im not lazy or if im not busy i usually just QD (quick detail spray) the whole car down and QD the door jambs too. condition the tires, plastic, leather etc etc...
well 7 steps... who wants to know my other steps for claying, polishing, sealant, and top coats? oh yeah and itnerior detail and engine bay detailing? hmm... im obsessed.

I washed my truck today.... $4.75 in quarters to get the damn thing clean.
I usually do the DIY-carwash a ways west (till they open the one across the street...).
1) Use HP-Wash to blast off the big shit
2) Switch to Foamy Brush, scrub down almost everything (Usually don't do this, but my truck was *really* nasty)
3) Use HP-Rinse to rinse away the soap
4) Use LP-Simoniz® Wax
Pull out of bay, park nearby, use an old beach towel to wipe down all the water spots, then wipe the dirt that always accumulates at the edge of the doors that the wash never gets. Wash windows in and out, wipe down dash. Touch up any dings with a touch-up paint.
I still need to clean the inside. Greased Monkey "vacuumed" the inside when they changed oil, but I think they just shook off the mats because they're still dirty. But it's a helluva lot better than it was.
White trucks are impossible to keep clean.
