how is fuel costs changing life where you are?
In oz, we have had the first job losses due to high fuel costs, 1400 jobs gone at Holden as sales of family cars have almost stopped, and well as the SUV division, food prices and everything else is starting to go up to a point where they are having a noticeable impact on the economy, consumer spending is down 20% in the last quarter, a record drop, and ont he other side, fuel theft has risen by the same amount, with ram raids now being a daily occurance as stolen trucks are driven into petrol pumps at night, and thieves steeling fuel by pumping it from the remains of the destroyed pump left in the ground into drums on the backs of the trucks...... quite interesting really.... i am waiting for one of these theiving fucks to light up cig just as he is steeling the fuel....
so what else is happeneing in your part of the world because of fuel prices?

I went to Ohio for vacation, and gas was nearly $2.60 for regular. So when I came back to S. Carolina, and prices were around $2.40, I didn't feel a huge difference.
And it costs me $35 to fill my tank.

it isn't.
I guess my home town was on the national news last week or something about how we have the cheapest fuel prices in the nation right now.
A lot of the pickups that are driven in these parts are company rigs, so fuel is paid for by the corporation instead of by the individual.

People come onto my car lot bitching about gas prices and saying they need a small car. But then they end up buying a durango that gets 10mpg because the're stupid white trash and and think it's cool.
All of a sudden they don't care about gas prices because they have a white trash fantasy. about goin muddin, and hunting, and towing the bass boat they'll never have, and towing the orange county chopper that they're gonna buy as soon as they hit the lotto home from new york. End rant.
People just like to bitch around here. They don't like the price of gas but they continue to buy big stupid trucks they don't need or use and complain.

The way I see it is that you have to have it. No one is going to stop buying gas so why bitch. I top off every morning heading into the office. Its right around $17 a day at the moment.

Im gathering supplies to build a BioDiesel refinery out of an old water heater and some other odds and ends in my backyard. I plan on running a diesel Jetta or an old Chevy Luv/Isuzu Pup on used fry oil. 0.60 cents a gallon sounds good.
