Well I just got the news that the EVO will only be about 250-260HP when we get it. My guess will be that it will be restricted with catalytic converters and s*** like the WRX is, meaning new piping = 30HP.
As for the Domestics needing to look out, they have bigger problems to worry about than just the EVO. The STi Impreza is coming in full 280HP trim (which thanks to that 6 speed gearbox is faster than the EVO this year) and by the time the EVO comes out, so will the turbo Legacy and Forester. Both with over 200HP. Looks like the kings of the 4 bangers are comming to claim their throne here in the US.

Doubtfull that the stang is gonna have that much power stock, they should, but ford is too cheap. Also forgot to mention the 350Z. Plus lets not forget the tunability of a stock turbo motor. Did I mention that the Impreza an EVO have run 12s stock??? works for me.

The problem is, if the HP with the Cobra and GT goes up, so will the price, meaning the highest output version will be well over 30K. If its like what I think it will be, getting the Impreza, EVO, or Z will be cheaper in the long run since all are and will be under 30K.

It depends really..... Ford added 45hp the the GT Mustang from 1997 to 1999 and the MSRP went up about $400 and the engines arent near the same. They have different heads, intake, pistons, ignition system and transmissions. A Cobra goes for around $28,000 so add $400 is $28,400 I doubt it will be $30,000. They are saying about 290hp for the GT which will probably be $24,000. The only thing they will have to do is install 96-98 4.6 pistons in the 99-up block which will yield about the same compression as the 2000 Cobra or SS Camaro. As for the Cobra engine, redesign the IMRC system and make a PI intake and possibly PI heads which would provide well over 350hp.
