Let's talk about races...

And, let's be honest, but not derogatory.

My GF and I were discussing something today, and I want to get everyone's viewpoint on it.

We took the kids to the park. Now, we're in NW Rhode Island, which is predominantly white. By predominantly, we're talking 98%. The park is gorgeous. Huge, flat grass, nice equipment for the kids to play on in the playground. I commented to her that it's very nice to see the place is kept up so well, and there wasn't any graffiti or anything else like that.

That started a discussion about housing projects and parks in the inner city. Now, I'm originally from L.A., so I've seen inner city. Providence, RI, isn't really as hardcore as L.A., but it still has it's rough parts.

And, every time Providence, like most major cities, tries to "re-vitalize" the inner city shitholes, the residents, who are 98% black or hispanic, trash the place within a year or two.

Why is that? Is it because it is provided for them by the state, so they feel they can shit all over it? Is it because they didn't have to pay for it, so since it's a gift, they feel they can do whatever they want? It's truly sad to say, but you can actually drive through our town and know which houses are minority owned, not by cars "sittin' on dubs" or people wearing baggy clothes, but by the fact the house looks like it hasn't been cleaned or painted in 20 years. And, these are in nice neighborhoods, not like it's in Compton or anything. You can have a beautiful house on either side of it, you know what I mean?

So, again, without the name calling and turning this into some sort of nasty bashing contest, let's discuss the reason behind the behavior. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm engaged in a similar discussion on another forum geared towards urban development...

I used to intern for my city government planning and zoning administration, so I got somewhat of an inside look at why exactly things like this go on, and it's simple, yet complicated.

City Housing Authorities get funds for these projects from the government, and they literally "HAVE" to deliver something. In my hometown's case, they tore down a project that were multi level brick apartments that were crime invested and turned it into a decent urban development with a community center, a natatorium, etc. Sounds like it would work right?



The problem? It's nothing but a new age project that'll pay for itself in 20 years, and from there become a city eyesore that'll manage to turn a profit, whether it be from tenants who pay their rent with or without government assistance.

Every major city suffers from the inner city shithole eyesore areas, and there's nothing you can really do about it. So to put a bandaid on it, you get developments like the one pictured above that'll become a crime invested haven in less than 10 years, pay for itself in 20 years or less, and stay standing for 40 years.

Hopefully, with the development picture above, this type of urban disaster will be avoided. All it takes is a strong foundation within the community, proper urban planning, and local officials who want the area to stay beautiful. When you get local officials who don't give a shit, that's when the community goes to shit.

Yes many are poor and uneducated. Unfortunately, the two go hand in hand.

If you give a homeless man food and a place to stay, he probably won't appreciate it, because he's probably accustomed to people giving him shit without him working for it. Urban Disasters (Da' Projects) are full of people just like this.

Oh yea, and where else are you going to put these poor uneducated people? On the outskirts with no public transporation?

The inner city is really the only place you can put these people.

I'm not talking about drug infestation or anything like that... What I'm talking about is, you provide something nice, be it a park, a new housing development, a new grocery store, anything, and it's fucked up in almost no time. I've literally seen new parks opened and within a week someone has vandalized it, strewn shit all over it, or just made it useless and broken.

I hate to say it, but some people are just like fucking animals. I know it's not everyone going down there to shit it all up, it's probably a very, very small percentage, but seriously: Where's the pride? Same thing with the houses in our town... You own a home, or rent a home from someone else. Why can't you take the time to maintain it nicely? Have some pride in what's yours?

But then, they complain how "the man" is holding them down. Hello! What the fuck?

It's a viscous cycle indeed, but it's all they've ever been exposed to, so they don't know any better.

Many don't even have the support system of TWO parents. You may have bought those things yourself, but you had the support of both mom and dad apparently. I purchased lots of things with my own funds, and paid for some of college, but I honestly don't know where i'd be without the support of my mom and dad.

A strong support system is very important, along with education. Another problem I've seen is that Religion is a part of the problem in communities like this (I hope I didn't open a can of worms).

For some reason, poor uneducated blacks rely a lot on prayer to solve their problems, when they aren't even meeting their maker half way on the issues. You can't pray for your gang member son to get out of the gangs, when you aren't rearing him properly. Improper conversion of African slaves to Christianity hundreds of years ago is mostly to blame for this idiotic use of religion today, which is why I look down upon today's christian way of life amongst the masses.

In the community pictured above, there's a multi-million dollar chuch nearby. I've attended this church, and he only tells the congregation what they want to hear, so they'll keep coming back.

I'm getting off on a tangent here, but i'm frustrated and have been for quite some time now. It's saddening...

Its the same everywhere, it doesn't have to be a park or anything like that. We lose snowmobile trails and motorcycle trails and just general OHV trails every year because of that bullshit. It really pisses me off when you come across a new locked gate on a road because some jackass had to go through a ranchers field instead of sticking to the two track.

some of them are ignorant morons. they keep screaming that the man is holding them down. i'm not saying that racism against blacks doesn't exist, but you can't blame all your woes on 'the man.' work hard and get around it.

that generation has kids. parents tell them that the man is holding them down. kids look around and see a ghetto ass neighborhood. kids develop the 'i don't give a fuck attitude.' voila, yet another generation of ignorants.

it's not really a matter of personal or even public fault... it's just the way things are right now.

Hence why the stl beautification projhests have been a major success since our ****** mayor has been out.

East STL has a black mayor and has remained a shithole. Anything they have done to better the community is promptly burned down by the homies. Every single building in east st. louis is burned to the grounbd or has visible fire damage. I'm not kidding. Those niggars are fire crazy.

Again, education is the key. The more you know, the less likely you are to fall into this viscous cycle.

What we don't realize, or are failing to see, is that minority races have not had the opportunities that majority races have had over the years. Now before you all jump down my throat and call me a bleeding heart liberal, just think about this...

When you oppress a race for 400+ years, and they haven't really been free a century yet (think Civil Rights Movement - Present), these problems will take a prolonged period of time before they are resolved.

Now, is there a solution to this? Sure there is. We need another MLK, new millenium style. One who will let everyone know the truth, and how to fix it. If I wasn't afraid of being shot by my own, I wouldn't mind taking the job honestly.

I predict that this will happen sometime this century. When the bling bling music industry looses its luster, all the exploitation of our own will hopefully come to a grinding halt, and hopefully we'll see some progress.

I'll say that i've done a lot of growing up if you will, on this forum in the past 6+ months. I can see why you call your mayor a ******.

Chances are, he took the job because he knew he'd win, get paid a nice 6 figure salary (if you all have a full time mayoral position), and live easy.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help people like me, who wouldn't mind attempting to make a change for the better. But i'll be called a sell-out, black republican, ass kissin' uncle tom, you get the idea.

This is why I plan to finish college, get going with my career, and concentrate on my own financial well being for me and my family. I can't carry the burden of bullshit on my back...

Thats bullshit. I'm a college dropout raised by one parent. I grew up with a silver spoon shoved up my ass. But I'm a greedy money making machine. There is a lot of money out there to be made, you just need the desire to grab it. I have meth heads working that make 70k. These fuckers are 1 generation from trailor trash. Don't know how to dress, don't know how to spend their money, but with a little direction, they know how to make it.

Many blacks in africa have controled there own destiny since the dawn of homo sapiens. (which is 6000 years according to yzf.) What is their problem???

I'm not saying that it can't be done in a single parent home, but it makes it just that much harder.

I wouldn't call myself a greedy money making machine, but for 21, I do pretty well, Between working for the university and working in sales, I'm able to buy whatever my young 21 year old heart desires, except that damn vette I want

But at the same time, I'm working toward my degree taking 18 hours of class, and I'm not bitchin' about it because I know it'll all pay off in December once it's all said and done and i'm moving on to the next chapter of my life.

Some people don't wanna work hard to get what they want. Apparenly, you aren't one of those people...neither am I. It'll be nice if I can be making 6 figures by the time i'm 28, and that's what i'm aspiring for. Hopefully, things will go my way.

in 05, one of my guys died of a drug overdoes. He died huffing dust-off. This is the kind of shit i have at the office and they are still making a lot of money. There is no reason that anyone can't make a living. The most unproiductive piece of shit working for me grosses 4 grand a month. He is a dumb MF'er and doesn't belong anywhere near a customer. But he hussles, and is hungry, so I like him. You can be the dunbest mother fucekr on the block, but if oyu work hard and hussle, you're going to make it.
