Ok, I figured what the payments on a 2000 Cobra would be with a 5,000 dollar down payment and decided I could afford it after I get out of basic training.  For one, does everyone think a cobra is worth it?  If not, any suggestions for anything better and for the same price?(18,000-20,000)

I had a 94 GT with minmimul mods that would hang right with a dohc cobra.  IMO their all looks.   plus higher insurance.   get a 94/95 5.0 gt and put moneyn into mods.   that'll equal a hella faster car then a cobra

i thought you said the gt would run 9.6s-9.8s....i have seen stock cobras run high 8s, 9.0s...  approx~1/10 of a sec. is 1 car length..so, keeping up is 7 car lengths behind a cobra?   <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

well, for one if by 2000 cobra you mena 99 or 01, because in 2000 SVT had thier hands full making lightnings and Cobra Rs, no regular cobras were made in 2000

if you can afford it, plus a votech supercharger... go for it

if its going to be your only form of transportation id suggest a decent reliable sedan, then with the extra money pick up a 92 5.0 and mod that till youre happy with it <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

jsut cus youve seen cobrs runs 8s dosnt mean all cobras run 8s. *i raced several diffrent cobras on the street and never giot beat by one

also my stang avcheived 9.6s-9.8s smoking the back tires off half the way down the track

Ive seen a stock GT run 8.95.  Im pretty sure thats rare though.  The Cobra had 305hp opposed to 260 and doesnt weigh much more.  Put 2 and 2 together. Those cars love superchargers too.  I was dead set on buying one, but I dont want to pay full insurance or payments so Im very happy with my paid off car (finally).

I can afford the Cobra I know.  As for the supercharger, I'd have to see when the time comes.

the 96-98s had 305hp
99 and 01s have 320

96-98s.... 14.2ish stock @ 98ish
99 and 01... 13.8ish stock @100ish

some are faster, but a decent driver should be able to achieve those times with a bone stock version of each car

ive never had a chance to go to a 1/4 mile track in my 240 but i want to really bad cus I think that my 1/4 time would be alot more impressive then my 8th times.   which suck.  next time u plan on going to commerce let me know id be glad to go up there with u a bust out that mid 14    <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

hahaha...mid 14!!!...nah,  seeing as how you ran a 10.3X, I bet in the 1/4 you would pull off a 15.5-15.8...

keep an eye on the scedules of both tracks, i got to commerce alot.  its about an hour and a half from greenville, 45 mins from clemson.  Tonight is thier last test and tune before spring tho...

well i had an 8.894 @ 76.92 on my 13.975 run
and a friend of mine on his 13.4 @105 run had a 8.7 @ 83

depends on tires, gears, the car... thats why they have 1/4th mile tracks
