Are all the GT-Rs going to be right hand drive ?
Nissan only ever made the GT-R in a right hand drive version. MotoRex is only going to be selling right hand drive GT-R's. There are however some left hand drive GT-R's in the world. We have some detailed pictures of an R32 that was converted to left hand drive. We also have some other pics of left hand drive R33's. There is a company in the US with a left hand drive conversion. You can contact Skyline Motors at (714) 558 -7655 for more information on left hand drive conversions.

Will Nissan import Skyline GT-R's to the US ?

We are not affiliated with Nissan, USA. The Skyline has been made in Japan since 1957. The GT-R first appered in 1968. It then stopped in 1973. In 1989 the GT-R reappeared. The GT-R has undergone 2 model changes since the R32. There have been rumors about the GT-R coming to the US since 1991 ,and it has never made it here

Can I get a new R32, R33 ?

No, the only car that is available new is the R34. The other vehicles are used .
How are the Skyline GT-R's insured ?

It varies from insurance company to insurance company. The Skyline is not listed in any of their manuals. We insure them the same way you would insure another specialty vehicle /street rod / restored car - for the value you place on the vehicle.
Are the engines detuned before they are imported?

No.
Can you get an engine for my Honda from Japan ?

We are currently only dealing with Nissan motors from Japan. SR20's and RB26's.
I have a GT-R in another country, Can I import it into the States now ?

In order to import the vehicle to the US legally it must be imported though Motorex,Inc. .The cost for us to legalize a car for you varies from $16,000 - $25,000 depending on the year of the vehicle. This does not include shipping , bonds ,tarriffs , custom brokerage fee , and associated shipping fees.
The additional cost varies as the bond cost (450% of the value of the vehicle) , and tarriff cost(2.5% of the value of the vehicle) varies with the value of the vehicle , also shipping can be roll on/roll off or container. Expect the other costs to be $4000 - $5000.
Are you going to import Subaru Impreza WRX's, Mitsubishi Evo's, Holdens, etc.?

We are currently exploring the possibility of importation of other specialty vehicles, check back with the website for further information.
What kind of warranty is on the Skyline GT-R ?

New cars receive a 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty, Used cars are as is.

There is an extensive collection of parts available for R32, R33, and R34 in Japan. Motorex carries Nismo ,Apex'i , and Blitz after market parts for the Skylines. We are also able to get other companies aftermarket parts for the GT-R.

Who can do the service on my Skyline GT-R ?
Similar to other specialty type vehicles , finding a quality mechanic is up to the individual. The GT-R shares many similarities with other US market Nissan vehicles.

What is the difference between a regular GT-R and a V-Spec ?
It depends on the model. In an R32 - it is wheels , brakes , and suspension. In an R33 and R34 it is firmer suspension, an electronically controlled limited slip differential in the rear end, and has ATESSA-ETS PRO.

What is the difference between a GT-R and a 400R?
The 400R is a very limited (40 cars) run of R33 GT-R's produced by Nissan Motorsports, (Nismo), in Japan 1996-1998. The 400R has a 400 hp RB-X engine. It is a RB-26 stroked to 2.8 liters. Where can I go for financing?
Several people have gotten home equity loans and used that to pay for their Skylines. We have started a relationship with Wells Fargo bank , and they are able to finance certain people with an unsecrured personal loan.
Why are your prices so high? We have had to go though all of the mandatory requirements for the DOT and EPA . Including crash testing , air bag testing , and OBD II to meet the Code of Federal Regulation requirements. Since Nissan did not perform any of these requirements , we have independently completed the research and development. The pricing reflects our cost of reseach and development.

What modifications do you perform in order for the GT-R to meet US regulations ?
In order to protect our business interests, research and developmentcosts, the answer to this question is confidential. Some of the basic items that are changed are things such as US emissions, speedometer , crash structure , lighting , US VIN , warning , and information labels.

How long will it take to get a GT-R from when I order it ?
Shipping from Japan will take approximately 3-4 weeks. Once the vehicle arrives in the United States, it will take approximately 2 weeks to clear customs. The vehicle gets the EPA modifications then it goes to the emissions lab for testing. The EPA testing will take approximately one week. Then the vehicle has a 15 day EPA hold. Once the vehicle is at our facility again it will take us approximately 2 weeks to make the necessary modifications and take the required pictures of the vehicle. Once the vehicle has been modified , and a compliance package put together and sent to the Department of Transportation , the vehicle goes into a mandatory 30 day DOT hold.
Skylines less than 2 years old can not currently be offered for sale in California. For more information regarding this please read http://www.arb.ca.gov/html/lawsregs.htm . If the vehicle is for California , then after the DOT and EPA paperwork is cleared , the vehicle goes to the California referee center for California certification. After the vehicle is tested , then the vehicle once again goes into a hold - 5 days for California.
I have a (insert car here.. Toyota Supra. WRX) in Japan, can I import it into the US and legalize it?

There are ways to import vehicles into the US. Normally they are imported as substaincially similar to a US model. Then what happens is anything that is different between the US DOT legal vehicle and the vehicle from overseas would need to be changed to be the same as a US model. For example - headlights , tailights , mph speedometer cluster. The DOT no longer accepts right hand drive cars as being substaincially similar to the US model unless the manufacturer provides information to the DOT stating the vehicles are substancially similar.
Additionally the engine in the vehicle must be available in the US or the engine must be certified for the US.
What is the differance between the GT-S and GT-R?

There are a number of GTS Skylines available in Japan. We are trying to limit the amount of variances that we import to the US. Generally on the R32 GTS they are 2.0 liter , RWD , and single turbo . R33 GTS's are 2.5 liter , RWD , and single turbo. The fenders , hoods , wheels , brakes , interiors and a few other small items are different than the GT-R.
