i need some help with my life....
hey guys. I'm 24. i have no direction in life. all i want is to go to school, but i don't want to spend all the money and sacrifice just to get into something I wont use. I am way way in debt, and i kinda live it up, but i'm sick of bouncing from job to job. I will be hard for me to give up my bmw and party life style, And i'm scared, once i get into school, i'm gonna quit, and be nowhere once again. i want to be somebody! Are there any tips you guys can give me about how you found what your calling was, and things i should consider. thanks.

What are you interested in (something relevant to a career)?
Edit: thought of another question: why do you want to go to school?

I'd take inventory of your natural talents. Doing what you love can be fun, but doing what you're good at usually leads to a more satisfying life.

well, i grew up on a farm. so naturally i have a talent for building, fixing, making things better. working with my hands. that being said, both my parents are teachers, and intellectuals, so i am also. i have worked predominently blue collar jobs, and while i'm usually quite good, i find my self quickly loosing dedication, and becoming unsatisfied. I am more of a big picture thinker than a task performer, if that makes any sense. i freakin get excited when my new car mag comes in the mail. i am 100% gear head. i was a mechanic before for a while, but it was not mentally challenging enough, and i got bored. i have been considering trying to get into mechanical engineering, but i am scared that i wont hack it. and with that, i realize that i don't want it badly enough. i want to go to school to bang hot bitches, honestly. i also think that i will maybe learn some new things that might lead to a direction for myself. pretty sad. all i want to do, besides go to school, is travel, and i think my dream job would be to work with a car mag.

Well, if that's all you want school for, you're probably better off just moving into a student home near a campus and getting a library card.
You talked about mechanical engineering which takes quite a bit of dedication. If you are already thinking that you won't be able to hack it then you are probably right.
Just think about this: you can probably get away with dreaming big for a couple more years, but if things don't progress by then, then you're fucked.

If you go to school for something worth doing as a career then you probably wont meet that many hot bitches to nail. And I wouldn't go for something you really like to do, because that'll get nailed out of you soon after. I hear there's a shortage of engineers, I'd look into something along that line.

The average salary for a CA is $190,000. I'd like to thank my mom and dad for me being born just in time for the biggest accounting boom in history.

step 1) research schools, find some that interest you
step 2) Travel to them and see how you like the people, night life, classes, etc.
step 3) move into an off campus apartment near the school where almost only students live
step 4) bang a hot chick
step 5) enroll in a tech school/community college and start taking gen ed
step 6) damn this is a lot of steps
step 7) enroll in big boy school if youve determined its right for you and take advantage of all the old person grants you get
step 8) live a fulfilling life with the homecoming queen (if you joined a frat and became a tool)

Why don't you find your own directions. That way it's more satisfying than someone else telling you what to do. Suck it up, don't be a pussy.

Either way, this place has been the same 9 douchebags posting stupid bullshit day after day, and it is boring as hell. Some girl joins up and starts posting pictures of herself and rather than enjoy the fact that something fairly interesting is happening in this otherwise dead lounge, people are being fags. I could give a shit one way or the other, but the next time someone finds themselves wondering why this forum is so fucking dead all the time, just think back to this.

If he took your advice, he'd be doing the opposite of what the advice states he should do. :P

A CA in Canada means chartered accountant. I was under the impression that the same held true in the US but I could be mistaken. The dean of my faculty said that the average salary of a CA in Canada is $192,000. I haven't looked into this myself mind you, I just chose to assume that it was accurate.

Yeah, in the U.S. it is a CPA, which is Certified Public Accountant. Average salary isn't anywhere near that though, probably around $100k. All depends on who you work for though. My father is a CPA and he also has a tax business on the side with about 200 or so clients, so he pulls in an extra $30k or so a year from that. CPA certification leaves you with a lot of options for work.

Hmm... now you've got me thinking. In Canada there are three streams of accounting CA (chartered accountant) CMA (certified managerial accountant) and CGA (certified general accountant). CA is the highest designation as it's comparable to an MBA (personally I think getting your CA is a little better). CGA is the lowest while CMA is a step above. The US has two designations, correct? CPA and PA? If such is the case I don't know if a direct relationship can be drawn between CA and CPA, although, after looking at some of their requirements, they do seem similiar.
