okay, its a 2005 XR 650R.

the CR 500 would have been smoked on the bottom end, but could have possibly held its own on the top end depending on gearing.

I know this because I have raced CR 500's with my 650. Sure, the CR and the XR are compairable numbers wise, and the CR is a lot lighter, but the XR's power is in the torque, and the CR's power is in the powerband where it had a 15 hp jump in ~ 1,500 rpm.

and I'm buying a '99 CR 500 in a month or so



edit: just FYI, the XR 650R wasn't put into production until 2000 or 2001, until then it was still the XR 600R

They still haven't fixed anything on the valve train, though they only suffer really bad when run in race conditions being revved to the sky for an entire moto.
