Problem with the Prix
Ok, I have a problem with our 97 Grand Prix GTP. Lately, when you floor it, it'll take off like normal, but when it gets to 4000RPM, it starts kicking back like the rev limiter was stopping it from going past that point. It has always done that if you rev it to 4000 at idle. However, it has never done it while in gear. I know the supercharger's bearings are wearing out and need replacing, but they aren't that bad, and I doubt that'd have anything to do with it. Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be? It's also having weird electrical problems. The radio will some times fade out a moment like it lost power, the radar detector randomly loses power, the check engine light comes on randomly from time to time, and a few other random electrical problems. I dunno, could it possibly be the computer? It started doing this after being driven during one of those massive storms, and I was thinking water could have gotten into it.

There is some programming in the computer that gives you a lagging feeling around 40mph. You can buy a reprogrammed ECU that is supposed to cure it.

That would be fine, except that this problem started only recently. After talking to Chris, he gave me a good starting point. Just checking to see if there are any other opinions on what I should look in to.

just an idea, but I'd check the maf screen for leaves, etc. Take the airlid/airbox off and check in front of and behind the maf.
that could make it act like you are describing.. Let me know what happens after you check it.

w/ the electrical problems you're having...i think the altenator is going out. That causes wierd problems all over. about 4 months before my altenator went out...my airbag light came on and stayed on. when i took it to the dealer for them to replace the altenator and check the airbag light...they said it caused the light.
the computer could be cutting back due to the low electricity...went into limp mode. tried resetting the ecu?

I went to that import test and tune and about 5 Hondas/Acuras broke down. Axles and transmissions seem to be the weak points. I might take the trailer August 8th and make some money
