To make a long story shorter for me to type please view this thread first.

It chronicles the entire troubleshooting process with my Over Drive which brings us up to this post.
After buying the Pressure switch from NY at a cost of about $60 we then were armed with enough ammo to try to tackle this job.
Not only were we going to fix the OD but we planned to add a Drain plug to a Pan that didn't come stock from the factory. This is were this is just a general post that pertains to many vehicles out there.
As far as the Tranny OD troubles. As I said our diagnosis was that the Pressure switch was bad. Once we pulled the oil pan to change out the switch, what did we find?

The loose wire on the pressure switch was clearly the culprit and explains why the OD just "stopped" working while driving on the highway.
On to step two,the drain plug.

So now that we weren't working on the problem the Modification starts
The first thing of course is to pull the pan and allow all the fluid to drain

Then you stop in at a Kragen or whatever parts store you like and buy one of these kits.
http://www.theforumlounge.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1947&stc=1&d=1169923961
You see the kit contains a feedthrough two washers and a plug bolt. Discard the two plastic washers and use a good RTV instead
Here we are after drilling the hole. The Drill bit we had was just a tad too small, and the next size up was too big. Too large of a hole will be sloppy so we decided just to use a rasp for a better fit. (yes that is a Stingray Frame)

Here is the pan with the Feed through installed Using a good amount of RTV on both sides

Put a magnet puck in there fro future use. This particular car has a filter(you can see it in the first pic of this post) This Filter has to be changed Every 12k miles. You can use the Magnet to collect any shavings if any. This info could be very useful if you are having problems and needing to diagnose issues.

Now you are ready to go back together with every thing.
Lay a healthy bead of RTV make sure to encircle the bolt holes
http://www.theforumlounge.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1951&stc=1&d=1169924707
Put the pan back in place

And for some stupid reason, maybe because we were rushed, I didn't get a final photo showing the plug. Believe me, it is there an it looks like a plug.
Anyway, if the key to extending the life of this OD unit is having clean fluid....now I can change fluid every 3000 miles with the Motor oil rather than every 12k per the FSM.
I thought you may find this tip useful.

A)Yes, I know it is not the most sought after tranny, but it is what I got to work with.....and until it quits, I'll continue to maintain it
B) what?? where do you see gold?

Oh, yeah, looks good.
That must suck though, having to change that filter every 12k.

I'm glad you posted this. I'm about to do the same thing to my differential. I tend to fill them up with water and there isn't even a way to check without cracking the rtv bead.

See, now you can just turn out one bolt and drain that differential in about 10 minutes
