Here is an unfinished kitplane I found for sale, $5k gets it, - everything but the engine, instruments, paint and some gutsy test flights. It's an unusual design that I really like, two equal area wings and no horizontal tail. 100 hp sends one of these to over 180mph, they have so little drag. Only problem is they're a bit tricky to land, but still, 30+ mpg at over 180mph in a straight line would get me out of the state and back for cheap!

You think 150mph in a car is fast, it's even faster when you have wings and aren't stuck to the ground, the landscape just scrolls by, all you hear is the hissing airflow.

Here is a completed plane, seen from below. The wing span is only 16 feet.

Too bad you couldn't come up with 5grand short of selling a kidney.

ahhhh the Quickie! it had a few issues, especially with the front Canard. the airfoil section was not suitable, and things as small as bug splats and water would change the aerodynamic profile of it enough to cause an uncontrolled stall and difficulty maintaining controlled flight. but i have heard there are new models out now with a more suitable canard aerofoil.... best to check which one this has, if its the old one... dont go near it! that might be why its $50000

Yes the old GU canard was bad news with bug or rain contamination, however you can install vortex generators across the top of the canard to cure the problem.

This particular Q2 has the carbon fibre spar based LS1xx canard. :)

A lot of the early ground handling issues of these planes has apparently been solved with aileron reflexors and tailspring height changes.

so explain to me, why it is that you are continually bragging about being a peasant and getting all the benifits from the Gov't yet are looking at buying an airplane?

Doesn't seem very christian of you to be living off of mine and meddles dime yet be out there purchasing expensive toys.

Sorry, I don't see it that way, care to define "bragging", "living off mine and meddle's dime" etc.

Most of what I receive for student aid is loans, which I must repay. Do you understand the concept in investment in a country's capitol stock, and the effects that has on long term economic growth?

I'm playing by the rules, the govt. helping me get a degree will feed back all the future income I will then make and spend in US products, no need to be hateful.

The peasant comments were more of trying to get meddle / jimlab to try to insult my lifestyle, where obviouly even a peasant class citizen can enjoy his posessions by partaking in their creation..... u'll notice the plane is a project which will require more time, skill, and training to complete / fly than ur average $20 cessna 152.....

That wasn't a very fair comment toward IHI. Keep in mind that IHI pays into that fund as well. There generally aren't even jobs that will bring a college student above poverty level and allow them to go to class during the day. It is not easy to keep up with school work for 18 hours worth of classes AND have a job to support the remainder of tuition. Please also keep in mind that he is just as justified as you to seek joy in life.

heh...

just one more way to stir the pot :firedevil

anyway... it seems to me that in every other thread there is some comment as to being a peasant or to being poor. And then in the next thread he is talking about airplanes and wanting them. The only thing an airplane is good for, IMO, is to drain more of that person's income.

and when in the past three or four months of this forum has there ever been any weight given to "fair" comments? :dunno:

Why wouldn't there be any weight given to fair comments?

I think he's trying to say that there's a lot of shit talking and bullshit comments.

Doesn't seem like a very good retort to me.

It doesn't? Supper's comment is "fair" compared to other posters ignorant comments.
