Like 5.56 6.8mm ammo is smaller and you can carry more of it that really is the biggest advantage to it over 7.62. So what you want to do is take the smallest caliber that will work for your purpose so you will have more of it. But you live in Cali. where 10 rounds is the most you can have in a mag. So like for a pistol you should have a 45. Because most of them only hold 10 rounds anyway. I Cali you have allot of wide-open spaces get the 7.62. AustinsFD 10-13-2006, 03:34 PM yeah thats a good reason to get 7.62 because 10 is the max anyways... besides the ar-10 is there any other semi auto rifles that shoot 7.62x51? i want a assault type looking rifle not a sniper rifle. one guy said this company called Rock River Arms is coming out with a rifle called the LAR10 next year....
