THe guy that made the video is a mac user :D AmishBoy 11-13-2006, 10:43 PM What are you wearing....I mean.. what is it doing? Rodrigo are you hitting on Dick? Supper 11-14-2006, 10:50 AM and it's got some really sweet snowcross suspension work. Its not a snowcross suspension persay, its merely "snowcrossesque" Its your typical A-arm front suspension that is on most snowmobiles produced in the last couple years. edit: just read it here - http://www.snowmobile.ca/mha_internal/article.php?sid=373 and watch here - http://media.putfile.com/rated-R-sled-claimed-750-hp Supper 11-14-2006, 03:58 PM also, write-up states it's a two stroke engine, so what does this have to do with the R1 engine? wrong part of the write up. That was just talking about Chad's previous work. to his latest, a 4-cylinder, 4-stroke Nitro methane burning supercharged monster of a Mountain Sled, and all his creations in between. there's lots of other info out there on the net if you want to read about it. and does this seriously look like a two stoke: http://www.snowmobilepages.com/mha_internal/images/story_images/ratedr03.jpg ?? edit: another video: http://media.putfile.com/Rated-R-run-one edit 2: more vids http://videos.streetfire.net/video/E4BEE6A6-4A16-468E-AC76-42574F76D7A3.htm http://media.putfile.com/Rated-R-750-HP-Sled - uphill crash @ 130mph Supper 11-14-2006, 04:20 PM more info: Chad wanted to build a tube chassis (AC M series) and put a monster motor in it. Gary Chistopher, a long time customer of Chads had a NHRA drag bike sitting in Chads shop for a year or 2, anywho some how the joke of puttin that motor into a sled came up and Chad being a fabricater and always wanting a challange took it serious. The call to Gary was made and the build begun. Once the chassis was complete and the motor went in, there was little time before last years BIS tp do testing and tuning. After many attempts and may little issues woth the motor etc it didnt run proper (Rated R has made passes across lakes etc). It then sat at CR with everyone and there dog comming down to take pics etc and collected dust while CR continued building its products for customers. In the fall, Rated R was flown to Toronto for the sled show in the East of Canada (Advertising and showing people from a different market what Chad is capable of building). After that it made it way back west and to the show on the coast where Chad toasted the crank. Once again, Rated R was on the back burner for the most obvious reasons, it's a good show piece but it doesnt pay the bills, keep the shop open, and all the fuel, parts etc are on Chads dime etc etc. Now the main and only issue at this point is trying to find a way to get the Nitro meth to its proper opperating temp while in the mountains in snow. At 2006 BIS, Chad brought up batterry warmers and a gen to warm the fuel tank but that failed. Rated R is going to continue chilling till late spring, and it's going to the drag strip where Chad can learn more about Nitro Meth motors and get help from all the Drag bike boys. This was a wicked cool project Chad took on and he will make this sled run, thats forsure. By trade and heart Chads a fabricater, not an expert in Nitro Meth motors, but with that said he will make it happen !! BTW, someone asked about the weight, rated R weigh's in at 586LBS full WET. The raw costs of Rated R is under $80,000.00 CDN dollars. (The motor, clutches etc were used, all other parts etc were obviously new and fab'd up by Chad) |
