"Sorry if I haven't done enough 944 vids this year, been playing with my other cars . This should make up for it though... took the 951 out to the final track day of the year. It's not a bad drift machine. The changes I made to make the car "driftable" were :
235's Kumho MX up front with 90% tread remaining (grippy)
265's Kumho 712's out back with 10% tread remaining (slippery)
35psi front tire pressure
45psi rear tire pressure
Of course, LSD is a requirement hehe. I didn't bring the car out till the end of the day, so they can close off half the track for me.... the day was quite warm, and the rears were surprisingly grippy. 50-55psi pressures out back would've made things much cooler... bigger drift angles!
As usual, right click, save to hard drive before viewing."

BlueCalx 10-29-2003, 04:25 PM pretty cool.. :) is that his bov that sounds like a pigeon call?
Sean951 10-29-2003, 05:32 PM thanks for fixing my stupid misake.....yeah....thats his blowoff valve...lol
Stegall 10-29-2003, 05:39 PM Yeah pretty neat. The BOV does sound pretty weird.. deffeintly get some attention.
Not flaming or trying to start any thing here, but to me, thats more of a power slide.... on a drift, your side ways long befor you get to the turn in of a corner...
Watch this.. its a 99 r34 skyline versus a 99 s15 silvia in a drift battle :

Thats drifting to me.....
the 944 video is still pretty neat...
Sean951 10-29-2003, 07:41 PM holy crap that was awsome, that reminds me of the blue angels when they get that close to each other. yeah, the 944 is probly closer to powersliding, still cool though.
that sounds exactly like a stock pt cruiser BOV at 15 psi.
Cosby 10-30-2003, 12:50 AM the porsche guy has some skill but its not drifting. I got a little bored toward the end. The drifting at nopi was awesome.
HTM Impreza WRX 10-30-2003, 11:24 AM sounds like a super sequential w/ an external wastegate
Stegall 10-30-2003, 11:28 AM sounds like a super sequential w/ an external wastegate
whaaa ??? it sounds nothing like the SSQ...... why would have an extrnal wastgate make it sound any diffrently... The wastegate is in no part connected to the BOV, thus how could it effect its sound ?....
the SSQ is more of a sudden whistle... that one has a repeted tone to it... sounds like a pigeon call like Robert said.. Nothing like the SSQ....
Stegall 10-30-2003, 11:32 AM watch the r34 versus s15 again, and turn ur volume way up... during the in car ride with the s15, listen for his BOV... now THATS a cool sounding BOV... lol
also, did any one else catch, that the r34 is a 4 door ??? I just realised it.. I didnt know they even made them in 4 doors.
HTM Impreza WRX 10-31-2003, 12:24 AM external wastegates sound different...they flutter more than an internal wastegate. also, there are different inserts to make different sounds.
Sean951 10-31-2003, 09:41 AM all 944 turbos have external wastegates, hes running a a tial 46mm i think so it would make it sound a little different.
Stegall 10-31-2003, 11:19 AM well im glad Jon can listen to a video of a car and instantly determin what kind of bov/wastegate their running.......... :op:
HTM Impreza WRX 10-31-2003, 02:12 PM damn...sux to be wrong
Chipster 11-01-2003, 11:32 AM that S15's BOV sounds like the HKS SSQ
Cosby 11-02-2003, 03:33 PM nah, it sounds like the hks racing bov
