http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/21/acura-tsx-gets-diesel-power-next-year/
We've already been introduced to Honda's new i-DTEC clean diesel and, as expected, it will be finding its way into the next generation TSX sometime in 2009. The inclusion of the 2.2-liter diesel will follow the redesign of Acura's entry-level sedan sometime this spring, with the i-DTEC-equipped model initially debuting in Europe (in the Euro Accord) and eventually finding its way into the RDX crossover later next year. A V6 diesel is also expected to arrive sometime in 2010.
According to Dick Colliver, Acura's executive veep of American Honda Motor Corp., Acura will be a totally different brand in the next five or six years, further differentiating itself from Honda and becoming a tier one luxury brand with its aim set squarely on BMW and other luxury automakers.
A new TL will debut later this year and the TSX replacement may also come equipped with the turbocharged four found in the RDX when it goes on sale this summer.
Vert8813B 01-23-2008, 01:05 PM Do Honda diesels have Tq? I am excited about the new VW Rabbit TDI. It's going to get appx 50 MPG and have 140 HP and 200+ Ft lbs of Tq. Beat that Honda!
FSURedFD 01-23-2008, 01:26 PM With Traction Control, they need to switch to RWD like Nissan did.
Eatmyclutch 01-23-2008, 01:57 PM I cannot see this happening.
SpartanTS 01-23-2008, 09:08 PM Forget the diesel, where's the AWD, Turbo, and 260+ HP? I'd buy a TSX if I could get it in that form.
Eatmyclutch 01-24-2008, 01:11 PM It's called the RDX, buddy.

RDX is ugly and heavy.
TSX = 3300 pounds
RDX = 4000 pounds
If Acura really wants to be a different brand in the next 5-7 years, they better switch to RWD in some vehicles, or AWD across the board.
wotnartd 01-25-2008, 11:57 PM My boss has the TSX with all the bells and whistles. It's a great car.
When I told him about it going diesel he was stoked. He figures when it's time for this one to go away, he'll be able to snatch up a diesel.
Steel 01-26-2008, 08:43 PM Too bad the EPA has this country by the balls, and OPEC has Bush by the balls so we can't get them here

But isn't the AWD, turbo what you wanted? :gay2:
SpartanTS 01-27-2008, 05:36 PM But isn't the AWD, turbo what you wanted? :gay2:
Yeah, if it didn't look like a fuckin turd. :asshole:
Even if it is AWD, if it's not a rear bias AWD, then that would be another downer as well. At least it would "feel" more like a RWD car.
Eatmyclutch 01-27-2008, 08:44 PM Quit yer bitchin.
rx-7_Z06 01-28-2008, 12:15 AM honda bringing in the diesel power should be awesome. I can't wait to see what cars they end up sticking a diesel in. The only thing about hondas that I don't like is 90% of their vehicles are FWD.

Between Honda/Acura, the only 4WD, AWD cars are the Pilot, Ridgeline, S2000, RL
Rest are FWD :(
Cosby 01-28-2008, 11:23 AM B/C honda knows their setup is cheap and reliable.
HashiriyaS14 01-29-2008, 09:23 AM The current TSX is a great car, my wife is getting one next month. The K24 is a LOT of fun when you get it higher up in the rev range.
Anyway, I've heard rumors (autoblog) that the next TSX is due to recieve the turbocharged K24 from the RDX, along with possibly SH-AWD. My Acura dealer said that the next TSX (or whatever) will likely replace both the current TSX and the current TL and slot in between them somewhere, price-wise as a legit 3-series/CTS/C-class competitor.
SpartanTS 01-30-2008, 07:33 AM I doubt they'll replace the TL/TSX with an entirely new car. That wouldn't make any sense to me. I can see them killing the TSX, but the TL has started to get lots of name recognition over the years. Hell it's been around for 12 years. Acura shot themselves in the foot once by killing the Legend name. I can't see them doing this, not right now...
I'm sure I'm not telling you something you don't know, but dealers have to be the absolute worst resource for information ;)
Vert8813B 01-30-2008, 09:04 AM Word. The VW Dealer told me that the new TDI would be out in 2007 Models. They were only 1 year early.
