Last I checked iPhones are going for about $50 over retail on eBay. You can walk into just about any Apple store and buy one.

what's so great about the iphone?

Nothing. It has a lot of cool features and it manages to half-ass all of them.

Phone: Terrible network

Web Browser: No Flash, Real Player or WMP support (so much for "not watered down")

Camera: No zoom, no video, no MMS (no point!)

Wifi: You can surf the net, and use it as an iPod, but you can't buy songs on it

Applications: Locked down by Apple right now

iPod: Only 4-8 gigs... not portable for the gym, storage too small for anything else

Headset: No Bluetooth support w/out an adapter attachment

Ringtones: 4-8 gigs of music, but no custom ringtones (????)

Expansion card slot: Eh, maybe not!

Battery Life: So far doesn't seem to be too bad, but I'm very skeptical.

I don't mind the convenience of all-in-one devices, but until they actually perform each task as well as a stand-alone device, I'll pass.

I have a Blackjack for work and really like the integration of email, calendars, etc, and the web browser is decent (I generally use Google and check my company's stock price), but the camera is still sub-par compared to other 2 MP cameras and surfing the 'net is nowhere close to the experience on a laptop.

The thing I like the most is the full keypad. It does make email and "texting" a lot more convenient.

I would be plenty happy if I could get a handheld device that had GREAT functionality for taking pictures, making phone calls, etc. There are plenty of times I've wished I had my camera with me but didn't - it would be nice to always have it on hand without having to lug around a separate device.

Since I let my phone soak into the ice chest full of perfect slushy ice cold water, along with my beer, my wife got her Nextel friend to get us two flip phones for free. They are likely sucky compared to iphone but ITS FREE WEEEEE!

thanks...i used to have nextel as a co. phone when I cleaned beer lines dropped them in solution constantly let it dry and it always worked. Best phone ever had although it looked like a brick.

I have one cell phone and I dumped the land line. I have a dockntalk station that when I enter my house, it bluetooths up to it. Then I plug in my cordless phone to the dock and talk and its like I have a landline in my house. All wireless, and it saves me 40 bucks a moth with the land line.

When the phone rings, I pick up my cordless, and the whole thing goes through my cell line.
