$100T2 09-24-2005, 06:21 PM So, here's my dilemma.
About 10 years ago, I broke the scaffoid bone in my left hand playing basketball.
That is the one bone in your hand that doesn't heal too well, and well, mine didn't. So, I had a screw put in it.
Fast forward to about three weeks ago. Something in that wrist feels like it's "catching" on the bone and/or screw. Something, as in a tendon or ligament. Today, I felt something pop. Now, it hurts like a bitch. At any hospital in America, there is really no such thing as an orthopaedic emergency. If I go down to the ER, they'll make me wait about 3 hours, get an x-ray (which will be negative, because it's ligaments, not bone...) and maybe some pain killers.
Or, do I just self-medicate with Chivas and coke, and chill?
Discuss. Or don't.
Say No To Pistons 09-24-2005, 06:31 PM you play basketball?
$100T2 09-24-2005, 06:33 PM Yep.
rodney87 09-24-2005, 06:59 PM What about making a doctor's appointment and stocking up on Tylenol till then. Its been 3 weeks, a few more days couldn't hurt?

Because before it was "catching", now it has "popped". There is a difference.

I can dunk on a 10 foot rim, but I don't need a trampoline, ladder, or anything else.
razorback 09-24-2005, 08:01 PM remind me to never challenge you to a 1on1 match..because well i suck at basketball.
Supper 09-24-2005, 09:25 PM screw chivas, get some crown.
and other then that, I would suggest making an appointment for first thing monday morning. If its so bad that you can't stand the pain, go to the ER, rack up tons of bills, and get a few nifty painkilers.

Until then two aleve or some of the good stuff from the back of the medican cabnet.
2ndGen.Rocket 09-26-2005, 12:14 PM Yeah if it hurts I would do it. I have a similar problem with my thumb right now too. I thought that I just sprained it on 4th of July weekend (I was drunk and dove headfirst off a boat into fairly shallow water), but I'm pretty sure it was broken. Now since I didn't do anything about it, it appears to have healed incorrectly. I can't bend my thumb all the way down, and it hurts in some positions. I can get through daily activities without any pain or anything though, so if I were you I'd get it taken care of.
razorback 09-27-2005, 03:38 PM my shoulder is starting do to something similiar, its the same spot that the 800lb tire maching almost fell on me (it just hit my arm, knocking me backward) it was bruised and eveyrthing, its been hurting the past few days, feels like its out of socket or something. ive thought hairline fracture but a month later? i dont think that could happen.
Manntis 09-27-2005, 04:08 PM I've a similar problem with shrapnel in my foot - only happens during cold weather when the flesh is more contracted. They say it'd do more damage to go in and move things around than just leaving it, but hopefully your case will be different.
$100T2 09-29-2005, 01:18 AM Well, I went to the ER tonight... It started hurting like a bastard when we were finishing up my new door panels. It's not broken, which means it's probably a fucked up ligament or tendon. Surgery. Woot.
aznpoopy 09-29-2005, 07:59 AM damn... sorry to hear it man! hope it all goes well.
