OCEAN GATE, N.J. (Wireless Flash) -- Just in time for Independence Day, a New Jersey man has had his convertible Nissan 240-SX declared the "Most Patriotic Car In America."
32-year-old Joseph Konopka's ride features a four-foot-high "papier mache" Mt. Rushmore and a 12-foot-high Uncle Sam.
The freelance graphic designer also coated his car with a vinyl overlay painted to resemble the American Flag as well as a Statue of Liberty hood ornament made from chicken wire and a green shower curtain.
The wacky design is cumbersome -- Konopka says he can only drive 10 miles per hour in the car and "...power lines are a problem."
However, he says it's worth it since he's won the "Patriotic Car" honor from the Old Navy clothing company along with a $10,000 U.S. Savings Bond.
This isn't Konopka's first foray into patriotic designs: After Sept. 11, he constructed a 20-foot-tall Statue of Liberty on a pier offshore from his hometown.
