No heavy metal, no twangy country, no polka. Other than that, suggest some good shit. I tried everything from the last thread on this, so give me some new stuff.

the more I listen to new stuff, the more I realize how good the old stuff really was, and how much of this new stuff should be flushed right down the toilet

Agreed 100%. 99% of new music is shit. It isn't real, and it's made to "sell"... no passion, no meaning, and you can see right through it.

Hard Rock/Metal of the 70s, 80s, and some 90s is where it's at.

If you want some good chillax music for a relaxing day around the house, Jack Johnson is the way to go.

Nothing better than having all the windows open, some good food on the stove, and a little Jack Johnson on the stereo.

That is, of course, if you can dig acoustic soft rock with "meaningful" lyrics.

Other wise, I wouldn't suggest any "new" music other than maybe Black Eyed Peas. Their cd isn't necessarily good, but it is catchy and easy to listen to over and over again.

If you want good music, look to the proven past.

Cosby

don't think I've ever heard it....

you guys can swap these songs here if you'd like:

be reasonable
only upload music posted here
only registered users may use it
only download the songs if you have purchased the cd already (ie waiting on it to arrive via mail)
only use ftp programs. do not use web browsers
this will only be up a week or so until I switch to the dedicated server
only formats .m4a or .mp3

ftp: illstreet.com
un: music
pw: mus1c4uz!!!

I put the new tool 10,000 days cd up too

now you can - it's on your server.

oh, and filesharing music is still banned in the USA, yeah? Good thing it's legal - and encouraged by artists - in Canada :)

edit: mang, your server is slooooow.

I already have the Jack Johnson stuff... It's o.k. The Black Eyed Peas are eh. My son likes me to put it on so he can dance to it, but that's about it. He runs up to the computer and starts yelling "Deet! Deet!", which is his word for dance, and that's the only time I put that stuff on.

Has anyone heard any of the new Chili Peppers CD?I personally don't much care for it.

Also, if you haven't listened to it before I have become addicted to the song "Fall into Sleep" by Mudvayne. Call me emo, call me whatever you want, I really like that song. The rest of the album is just meh though.

edit:

if you can find it, Michelle Cross kicks some serious ass. Though IIRC she only ever did one album, and it was a demo for the record labels "My Name Is not Cinderella." The story is she was offered a record deal but when told that they wouldn't allow people to pirate her music, she refused the deal. Don't know if she has released anything since. I'm still trying to get my hands on the rest of that demo.

I have it already and it fucking ROCKS. Don't listen to Supper, he's obviously not a fan.

If you like their older stuff ala Blood Sugar Sex Magik, etc, you'll love Stadium Arcadium. It's a great return to their funk roots.

I've listened to it probably close to 10 times since I downloaded it last week, and will be at the store first thing Tuesday morning to buy it.

RHCP is my favorite group, so yeah... I'm happy. :)

I'm a fan of them just like I'm a fan of every other band, they have good tracks and bad tracks. I just don't personally care for the new album.

I'm saying you're not a fan because their new album is a great return to what first made them popular.

I really need to get Paul's phone number....

At the last meet, I had asked if anyone had told him about the meet, but nobody had his god damn number.

Paul has "other priorities" AKA "we aren't important." Heh.

Wolfmother
Tangiers
The Hellacopters

All 3 are making some badass throwback rock right now. Download "Everything Is On TV" by The Hellacopters, I think you'll like it. Then download "Woman" and "Colossal" by Wolfmother.

And the new RHCP album is good. I've been listening to it in a drop top while cruising the Santa Monica freeway which has likely swayed my opinion on it, but as of now it's really good. We'll see how much I like it when I'm in the sweltering hot afternoons of North Carolina.
