well, its new to me. its an 86 gxl. got it for 400 bucks, just got back from north carolina picking it up. its a really clean car for 400 bucks, it actually turns over, so theres a chance i may be able to get it running. if not, its v8 time :)

nice find, it looks pretty good. u say it turns over, is that by hand or starter?

turns over by starter, it actually has a new one. and it also turns over easily, i have never heard how a rotary sounds when it starts up....this is my first one:), but i heard no spark. it has 2 year old gas in it though, so ill start by draining that and checking the fuel filter, anything you could suggest would be great.

Sean, excellent find! As an owner of a 3rd gen RX-7 I honestly think that barring a major mechanical failure, I see no reason why you can't get your new RX-7 to run. It looks like the odo read 133kmi, which in a non turbo 2nd gen is relatively decent mileage. The non turbo rotaries are known to last a very long time (sometimes between 230-300kmi) if properly taken care of.

So whats the plan of attack on this car? I read somewhere that you were thinking LT1 and T56? If you had the funds, a somewhat built LT1 setup for a nice shot of gas or a blower or turbo would be sick. Also, a white 2nd gen would look really nice with a set of wide fenders on it or a decent body kit with some nice wheels (although i'm not one for doing gaudy bodykits).

If the 13B-REW ever goes in my Competition Yellow Mica RX-7, I think I might just swap a LS-1 or LS-6 in :D

thanks guys, plan of attack? im not entirely sure yet, nothings set in stone. but heres what im thinking now. the frist article is trying to get the rotary engine running. if thats possible im going to drive it with the rotary for a while, but the lt1 is def going to be an option in the near future. i think if i get the rotary working, im going to turn to other issures with the car, get the body work nice, im thinking about fender flairs with wide wheels, maybe a carbon fiber hood(chris :)) and a some coil overs. then i will address the power issue, with either an american v8 or some kind of turbo rotary. might try painting it myself, the white is nice, and it may grow on me. but ive allways wanted a black car with black wheels. i really like the bodystyle of these rx7s, i have a porsche 944 turbo....and its not to different, its better in some ways, a little less boxy, but i need to make it a little wider with some flairs to give it a more aggressive stance. all in all, im exited about the car, and im looking forward to start modifying it...and im glad theres a couple of rx7 guys on the board, cuss i may need your help sometime:)

has anyone done a sbf swap into one? how hard in comparison? i wouldn't mind getting another cheap roller 5.0 and vortech like in my green coupe swapped into one. prob still slower than an lt1 i just like the engine better.

there has been some. i think people do the chevy swaps more because the cheaper performance parts, ect. check out http://www.torquecentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11 they have allot of info on the v8 swaps, like someone allready said people put buick gn engines in them so i dont see why a ford engine would be that difficult. i know that granny makes the cradle for sbf, i dont know if the mounts are the same quality as the chevy mounts, they should be. if i do go with the v8 swap im going to try and do as much as i can myself, probly just get the cradle and tranny mount from those guys. ive heard things about both companies that make the swap kits for the rx7s....good and bad.

That front bumper looks great the way they cut it and rolled the edges. That hood wasn't cheap either.

Normally I dont care much for FCs but that is the hottest 2nd gen I have ever seen. Where did you find that pic? Any details on the car? Whose bodykit? Wheels, etc? Good find.

Pics of the decklid spoiler? I see the CF hood on that FC but I dont see a CF spoiler at all on that FC. It could be the angle of the pic, although all I see is the CF lip spoiler. Either way that FC is sssizzzzzzzzzzlllllllliiiiiiinnnnnnnn HAWT

What is there to be sure about? Personally I'd just get an n/a or regular t2 if I had a daily driver.

Agreed. I don't know if I would even consider a TII unless it had a properly rebuilt engine and even then I don't know...

They'll last if you take REALLY good care of them, but problem is, most people don't. Good luck either way. :hide:

n/a will definately last longer.

Agreed. I would still pursue the LT-1 or just about any other V8 over the stock rotary mill.

my n/a is fun enough. and when it's a daily driver, it HAS to last.
