Even though this is in the religion section, let's discuss this more from a logical and theological approach than a religious one.
The question:
If everyone on earth tried their best to be a type of person that Jesus taught the world to be, would the world be a much better place for everyone? Even though we would all sometimes fail, but the mere effort to strive to be that way, would it benefit the world?
(Being forgiving, loving, humble, helpful, understanding, and non-judgmental.)
If you answered yes... what is keeping you from being that way as much as you can?
If you answered no, why?
DeRFmAn 08-21-2006, 11:32 PM Yzf apparently you missed the entire first line.
Yes, is the answer. The reason everyone isn't like that is b/c its too hard to be nice all the time. Most people would rather live alone then have to be nice all the time. Contrary to what some might think I try as much as I can to live a good life, but I'm far from faultless. I have a horrible temper most of the time, can't stand stupid people, and generally don't like the avg person I meet. Why? I don't know thats just the way I am. I do however strive to be nice to people I don't like, I'm usually around my g/f and that tends to make me keep control of my temper. Its just hard.
czarofzar 08-22-2006, 07:01 PM The question:
If everyone on earth tried their best to be a type of person that Jesus taught the world to be, would the world be a much better place for everyone? Even though we would all sometimes fail, but the mere effort to strive to be that way, would it benefit the world?
YES! I dont know why i cant be like jesus except its fun to be ME.
czarofzar 08-22-2006, 08:09 PM Are you saying..am i not good? Not heavens yes or by earth no. yes or no.
czarofzar 08-22-2006, 08:20 PM jesus wasnt good. am i suppose to prove that too?
czarofzar 08-22-2006, 08:39 PM thank you again. nice try. God is just persuasive love. He is trying to get you to accept his love or he'll kill you. he killed a lot of innocents. he is not even worthy of me to even think he exsists. But being all buffed and shuff, why you choose fear? Why are you scared of things made up by living organisms? We beat Revelations, my friend. Earth survived without jesus. or god.
czarofzar 08-22-2006, 09:16 PM you can only be proven wrong
it's all good
correct, for both sides.
So why do we write on these boards?
czarofzar 08-22-2006, 09:22 PM right. This boy can learn! Didnt i tell you its the end game we are playing? Yup, sure did. only way we will prove to each other is death. are you thinking rev? lol w/e
skydivr7673 08-22-2006, 11:33 PM and you missed the entire point of what I quoted
YOU CANNOT LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE, TO GOD'S STANDARD, IN THE FLESH....CANNOT BE DONE!
believe me, I've tried it, and I still try it! and I fall on my face every time....it's a hard lesson to learn, because pride is so resilient
um, try reading the post next time. He clearly said "TRY THEIR BEST".....he did not ask "what if everyone SUCCEEDED IN LIVING THE PERFECT CHRISTIAN LIFE...."
Are you actually saying that it is impossible for people to TRY THEIR BEST to do something?
skydivr7673 08-22-2006, 11:39 PM because "trying your best" has absolutely nothing to do with it
again, read what I posted
I did....and it has very little to do with the question that he acutally asked, Mark. Perhaps you need to go back and re-read the first post. It said NOTHING about God--he merely asked if THE WORLD WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE if people "tried their best". What is so hard to understand about that?
skydivr7673 08-23-2006, 12:01 AM I think most people do "try their best"
ultimately, what does that mean? it is completely subjective...
I disagree. By many of your own posts, we see the true human nature. I honestly do not think that most people try their best. I think that humans by their nature are very often selfish, generally speaking of course.
Also, why do you have to get into deep religious mindsets over such threads? The guy asked a simple question--do you think yes or no. Simple. Easy. he just wanted to know what everyone thought. And then you come along, and try to turn it into a religious topic when it never was intended to be one.
Is it remotely possible that you could read someone's question and just provide an answer without trying to change the direction of said question?
skydivr7673 08-23-2006, 05:16 AM what is with you? He never said "live like Christ". He said TRY TO LIVE THE WAY CHRIST TAUGHT--and he gave examples of what he meant. He is only asking "what if every person on the planet TRIED THEIR BEST to be more like how God wants people to be....cant you get this?
Even though we would all sometimes fail, but the mere effort to strive to be that way, would it benefit the world?
He is asking if THE ATTEMPT TO BE BETTER PEOPLE TO EACH OTHER would benefit the world. He did NOT ask if everyone could "live like Christ". Christ was perfect, without sin--THAT IS NOT AT ALL WHAT HE ASKED AND YOU KNOW IT.
In any case, OF COURSE it is not possible to live that way--but isnt that the entire premise behind being a Christian?? TO TRY YOUR BEST to work to that goal? TO live to be MORE like Christ, rather than to "live like Christ"? Man, what is your deal already??
skydivr7673 08-23-2006, 06:49 PM go away jon, you're annoying...and take your all caps with you
I would have actually considered leaving this thread alone....if you were man enough to just admit you completely misinterpreted this whole topic....but then again, I probably have a better chance of walking on water than seeing that happen...
skydivr7673 08-23-2006, 07:34 PM thanks, but I think I will stick around. After all, I am as entitled to do so as you are. Perhaps you should stop acting like this is your section, because you have no business telling others what to do in here.
skydivr7673 08-23-2006, 07:44 PM fine, stick to the topic then and stop making everything personal
When you stop calling everyone who disagrees with you "mindless", or "idiot"...then come talk to me about making it personal, mmkay champ?? until then, dont even think about going there. I merely asked you a polite question, but you go around insulting others at will.....yeah, tell me about making it personal, Mark.....
skydivr7673 08-23-2006, 07:45 PM actually, it is possible...the apostle Paul is a good example
nope..."trying your best" has never been the foundation of the Christian life
Hang on a second--you are the one who just told us it is not possible....and now, you try to counter my agreeing with you, by saying it is possible....hmmm....
skydivr7673 08-23-2006, 07:57 PM not possible in the flesh
that's why I don't like having a conversation like this with someone outside the faith
So, Paul was not in the flesh when he lived like that?
By the way, who else are you supposed to have such conversations with?? Or, do you think God sent you here to witness or spread the good news to those already saved?
honegod 08-23-2006, 11:45 PM sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, envy, murders, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
but I thought we were supposed to be acting like god ???
skydivr7673 08-24-2006, 05:58 AM Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Marky, before you try to pull off this judgment stuff on others again, go worry about yourself first. Based on that scripture, and nothing more than your history of posting in the forums, your actions fit into the first group....not the second.....
honegod 08-24-2006, 06:40 AM I really, really, really would like to be there when you face the Almighty at the judgment
have faith, I will do all I can to insure you are within the blast radius when I take out your terrorist master on his bloody throne :bigthumb:
skydivr7673 08-24-2006, 06:48 PM no, jonnie, you don't get it, and you never will
I stick to the topic until fools like yourself divert the topic with attempts at personal judgment...you are most certainly guilty of ALL of the above, mr. obnoxious pervert, with YEARS of posting lovely statements such as "your mother should have swallowed you" on the rx-7club  it's laughable to hear a clown like you say anything high brow
and btw, I stated I would like to be there at the judgment, not doing any judging myself....your reading comprehension sucks, as always
1--Do I need to post up examples of how you kill perfectly good topics by either going off-topic or by insulting someone?? You KNOW you do this, so you can come clean anytime now. Everyone here knows you do it....so dont think youre kidding anyone. Yourself, maybe, but no one else.
2--and btw, genius, when you say "I would love to be there at your day of judgment", it is obviously because you are already JUDGING what that day will bring. That means you are JUDGING the person...what he does, what is really in his heart....MY comprehensioon sucks??? It is plainly obvious EXACTLY what you meant there, Marky, so again, youre not fooling anyone.
After all, why would you want to be there if his day of judgment was not going to "prove you right"???? You can stop lying any day now, champ. Seriously. Ray Charles could have seen that.....
3--"your mother should have swallowed you" pales in comparison to the grotesque attitude issues you have, Mr. "bash your face into a bloody mess"....say what you will, but telling someone that the should have been swallowed, last time I checked, is at least LEGAL. Compared to your track record, it isnt even close. You re the ultimate hypocrite, Mark--your track record on that forum is worse than the next TWENTY people in line--death threats, literally DOZENS of bans....
Like I always tell you, your actions are not fooling anyone.
skydivr7673 08-24-2006, 09:27 PM God is the judge, not me....as usual, your post is irrelevant to this thread, and you continue to do the same old crap you always do: follow me around
so....now your excuse is that you merely "really really really would like" to sit back and watch the judge do His work? Whatever happened to Christians needing to be humble???
If this is your excuse, you lose anyways....always with you it is one BS excuse after another to try to cover up bad intentions....my bible must be missing that chapter that instructs you to be like this.....

-Just for fun.
The time chart is looking good. :bigthumb:
czarofzar 08-30-2006, 09:25 PM I'm sure you do....I seem to recall a certain email you sent...
"just a picture to let you know who youre ****ing with...."
Like I said, get used to disappointment
lawl! did yzf really said that with his pic?

skydivr7673 08-30-2006, 11:18 PM ah yes, mr. harp on stuff from three years ago
let's review all your sins over the past three years, psycho jonnie
nah....let's not....I just ate
No need--I was merely answering a question posed to me about how sad your actions really were. As for you, I can point out things you do every day that suck....it's quite easy. Ever since you got banned from the forum that doesnt ban anyone, you have refused to follow any of the rules that you gave your word to Kevin to follow...guess we can see what your word means to you, now cant we?? I wonder what the bible says about that...I seem to recall something about letting your yes be yes and your no be no....hmmm....
like the hundreds dennis and you used against me?
before I said a word to you, jon, your mouth from hell was blowing smoke: "you can't get laid in a morgue" etc etc on and on it went
nothing has changed, you're the same high school punk kid you always were, using the same worn out lines
"thanks for playing!"
It is already well established where this started--you came into that one thread that you were not a part of and proceeded to insult anyone who didnt agree 100% with you. That was before I ever posted to you. I saw the kind of person you were and reacted in kind--at the time I felt that you fully deserved what you got. I still do, too....but thats ok--you just keep on trucking about everyone else's sins, all the while trying to whine when someone talks about yours. After all, it would have to be three years ago for that forum, wouldnt it?? because you cant even get into the DoO section anymore, thanks to your apparent true heart for God and subsequent kindness, discipline, and sense of priority....:bigthumb:
