Start with Virtual DJ so when you realize you dont like it you're not out any money.

actually, I've been mixing for a while, and I love it lol. I'm using vdj with a mixer/controller. Doing everything realtime is new to me, though.

A fast laptop and VDJ is pretty much all you need, I know guys that spin Breaks/Trance with a controller and VDJ AND get paid to do it. Good stuff.

ya, I'm just kinda stuck on the process of linking tracks. When I did everything manual, I could just cut and paste, and make anything I wanted. Now I have to be able to cue and loop on the fly, it's kinda confusing.

Work with similar BPM's and look for an unusual sound in a track or part of a track you can loop. Also the BeatMatch icon in VDJ will help you alot when looking at what music sounds the best as far as mixing.

Do you mix Hip Hop or Dance/Techno?

I'm still a newb at DJing myself, but I suppose I can give you some pointers if need be. I have Traktor 3, but most of my mixing is done with vinyl.

Check out a minimix I just made for reference to the kinds of stuff I spin and feel free to ask any questions about how I mixed afterwards.

Electro. I'm fairly familiar with mixing, I know how to match bpm, bars, gain, etc. I spose I was hoping someone had a mix they could send me, and then explain what they were doing, so I could just see the process. I've been listening to lots of mixes, but it's often hard to follow what's coming from what channel if I don't know the songs.

edit: sweet, thanks ^

So, no questions?

Also, "It's not hip-hop, it's Electro... Prick."
