I used to use Scottrade but I found these guys and they have no minimum to open and 6.95 trades. Any thoughts?

I use E-trade and I think they are a a good company. Their trades are $9.99 until you make a 150 per quarter, and then they drop to $7.99. As for Charles Schwab, please avoid.

I had a small account there ($5600) in value so I bought some stock in Orbitz that I bought on margin (about 900 shares at roughly $11 per share, around 10K). The stock tanked to around $6 a share, so I got a margin call. I talked with the guy for maybe 15 minutes and he told me I needed to pay $395 to cover the call. I was told that it satisfied the call. I did, but it went down a little more the next day. I couldn't find anywhere to pay on there website so I figured that they would give me another call the next day or two. They didn't. The sold off all the shares at around $6 per share and left me with around $600 of my original 5K (that is including the $395).

That was my hard earned deployment money.

Wow that sucks! Im relatively new to stock trading, I bought into Sirius a few years ago right before it boomed and then collapsed again. I got lucky and dumped before it dropped.
