Then I told them if they wanted me to buy them the PJs.

They made it VERY clear to me to not get them the PJs. Even my kids dont want to be caught dead with these on.

That's one thing I see that's really screwed up. I mean, greeks and romans had several gods (Polytheistic). Most recent pop-religions nowadays (Christianity, Judiaism, Muslim) worship one God (Jesus, Jehovah, Allah). So who's right? Also, as mentioned before, who's to know which one is the "true" religion (Look at it from outside religion, yzf) and that all the rest are false?

The reason I ask is because different denominations accept different versions of the Bible containing different books. I'm curious as to which version of the aforementioned Scripture you subscribe to. If you do not subscribe to any widely-known denomination, then what version of the bible do you choose and why?

I would also be inclined to argue against the notion that "God is what is declared in the scripture". I think that I would agree that what God wishes for us to know is contained therein, but I don't see any compelling reason to believe that it necessarily contains everything, only that the information that it DOES contain is unflawed. Not that this is necessarily material to anything anyone's talking about....just a thought.

EDIT: Anyone know if "Scripture" should be capitalized in this usage? It would seem to me to be a proper noun in the context.

Ok, that's precisely what I was getting at there, we seem to be in agreement on that one.

It's the following that tends to get me wondering as to what should be considered legitimate versus not:

Luke 1:1-4

So yeah, that would mean that my curiosity extends to include stuff like the Apocryphal Gospels, which are fairly widely accepted, and also more esoteric material such as things found in the Scrolls (which don't contain gospels per se), the Gospel of Thomas, and various other material.

It just interests me how people go about deciding what is legitimate and what is not. I don't so much have an opinion on the legitimacy of any particular piece of material (as I'm no expert), but the logical exercise is interesting.

I find it especially interesting that while you say God is not the construct of any man-made organization (read: Church), these organizations and their interpretations are largely responsible, over a couple thousand years, for deciding what Scripture is considered legitimate.
