I'm thinking about buying a 4.6 cobra when i get my 240 sold ( whenever that will be ) I really liked my 94 GT, and I like the 240 and all, but it jsut dosn't have enoguh torque to haul my fat butt off the line fast enough. Its jsut not fast enough. Im kinda leaning towards a 96 or 97 cobra.. preferably one with not alot of miles. Maybe it'll happen this summer. What do ya'll think of them ?

I know you don't like them clint...

Stegall
05-02-2002, 11:02 PM
because i hate 4 cylinders always did
im not even sure why i bought the 240 cobras are rated at 305 hp stock. ive seen them run low 8s at greer. theres alot of potential there. Besides every one and their brother having one, and them not handeling, i like them. Plus, they are really comfortable inside. by far the nicest car ive ever had. i jsut get sick of my head rubbing the headliner, and earing weedeater trashcan noises from my exhaust... i love that deep throathy single chamber flowmaster sound. SOrry man but my 94 stang got me hooked.

if you go import, you NEED turbo. *unless you go w/ something like a supra..which is better w/ a turbo or 2. *I just like the feel of the turbo spooling up and throwing you back...i can't wait until i'm boosting.

you should also look at a z28 camaro. i've seen 95's go for around 5k. put it on the bottle, and it'll be running 12's or better.

Camaros are ugly. I jsut want a nice car that I cna do some mild stuff to and still drive every day reliably.

i prefer the look of a camaro over a mustang, but that mostly my dads influence! are you pretty much dead set on that, or would u consider something else i.e. MR2 turbo, MKIII, Z31 Turbo, or so on...

05-02-2002, 11:53 PM
hes already complaining about room in the 240 and you suggest an mr2?! *damn I can hardly fit in one! I suggested the other ones too though...I think a Z32 would be the best idea

The 96-98 are pretty nice I've always liked the 93-95. The 95 convertable hardtop's are pretty rare but you can get them in any color you want as long as its black... because thats the only color they made. Pretty cool to roll down all 4 windows with the hardtop on makes people look...

I think the mustang is a GREAT idea! LOL but I don't know all that much about how fast it is and everything but I know that I liked your old one a lot! That's my favorite car you've had, but like I said I'm just going by how it looks and not how it drives and how fast it is!

Hightach Tibby
05-04-2002, 01:46 AM
then buy a rotary, cleveland

05-04-2002, 01:58 AM
Its not that the rotary doesnt have torque. Its more of a torque curve issue. Could have been better. Oh well...torque rules still

Stegall

Chris will agrre that the mustang had masive yet useable torque.

I know they're probably everywhere in Autotrader and what-not, but i saw a 97ish white cobra for sale off of 221 in Rutherfordton, NC when i was on my way to pick up my scoobie wheels. There was also a white GT sitting beside it along with other nice new and old domestics.

What about the Fox-style (?) 5.0s. Those can be made crazy fast for little dough. Let me remind u i know little about mustangs, don't laugh at my knowledge about them

05-05-2002, 07:19 PM
what kind of wheels did you get clint?

PeotchRedZ
05-05-2002, 07:53 PM
go to www.srswap.com Go for the SR20DET....They have a kit that puts 320HP to the wheels!!! That's what i want....i'll be getting an S13 tho......Mustangs are cool too tho....I've owned 2 5.0's Plus the 4V's can hold about 14 pounds of boost no problem, so you can be over 400HP very easily, then no import (almost) could touch you.......Depends on your prefrence really.....th V8 obviously has more potential, but I'm 6'3'' and i couldn't sit in a Mustang without my knees hitting the dash.....turbo's are FUN tho.

You can move the seats back as far as you want check out Mustangworld.com for directions. I ran a blown cobra last. He ran good as hell with the P-600B setup. By the time I was at 110, he was doing 140.

I got the stock 00-01 2.5 RS wheels.
I'm going out tomorrow to find out how much it'd cost to powdercoat them before i put them on the scoobie

So all i gotta do is buy 2 99 RS wheels to go along with my unbent wheels and i have street wheels, and race wheels! yay! Stock wheels weigh 16lbs, so not too heavy

Haha......well, you're right about that, and I do wish my car was as easy and cheap to modify as a mustang, but still add me to the anti-mustang count as well, I'm just not into American, 500 liter, straight line only, muscle

My favorite relative comment to that is when either Brian or Clint (dark RX7 dont remember) raced my friend and finally passed him when he ran out of gear. My friend told him man I cant run long distances im set up for the 1/8th (C-4 and 4.10). Then the RX7 driver said I was just getting going. Then Jeff said how much u got in that car and (Clint or Brian) said something like thousands it was sorta high. My friend Jeff said I have $1500 in this car. We all laughed it was sorta funny...

Eh, but then again, anyone can make a mustang fast. I owe more respect to an import that runs 7s in the 1/8th than a domestic running 6s.

I think its "sorta funny" that the mustang toped out at around 85mph Coulda took it to 178

Curves + sex-appeal + speed = RX-7
speed = mustang

i hate cars that cant handle without extensive mods, thus eliminating a desire for almost any domestic except maybe the Z06...

05-07-2002, 01:51 AM
"maybe" the Z06?? Ken are you crazy? Youll be hard pressed to find a better handling car period. esp in that price range...i dont know how it holds up against the immortals like ferrari and lambo and mustang uh i mean maserati....

the Z06 and the WS6 almost have me wanting a domestic car. Especially after riding in Cale's WS6....V8...drroooool...

Yeah Yeah Yeah I hear ya'lls complaints... Their every where, don't handel blah blah I like them though. I rally liked my 94. I never got a chance to auto cross it, but it had really good turn in.. With good throttle control, and a decent driver, i think one might could drive one to a fairly fast time. Oh well, I don't want to start an augrement over weither or not they handel, but I always thought my car had really good turn in, and grip. Only problem was you couldnt get on it more then 1/4 throttle with out drifting the rest of the turn.

To answer your question about the Fox's Clint, I like them, and yes they can be extremely fast, but I want a cobra. The sound of a DOHC v8 on singel chamber flowmasters is un matched. Sorry, but I just cant get used to the " WHEEMMM WHEEMMMM " of my 240....
