J_R 10-23-2007, 07:11 PM The alarm works, it locks and unlocks. However when I press the start button it turns on my exterior lights, dummy lights, makes a click sound and then does nothing. I know nothing about auto starts and whoever put it in did a pretty sloppy job under the dash. Anybody have any suggestions for what to look for? Manntis 10-23-2007, 08:13 PM does the click sound like the solenoid throwing the gear to the flywheel? J_R 10-23-2007, 08:26 PM I'd say a little softer sounding, car starts fine with the key... Vert8813B 10-23-2007, 08:30 PM My 2 cents: Remote Starter Switch died. Most are made in China. rodney87 10-23-2007, 10:27 PM Sounds like the wire running from the remote relays to the 'start' wire on your ignition switch doesn't have a good connection. I had to hook up one of these remote starters at work a few weeks ago, let me know if you need any pointers. Cosby 10-23-2007, 10:40 PM Definitely check the wire that goes to the start wire with a multimeter. I wouldn't be surprised if the output on the remote start module is fried. Also could be from an unprotected output on the module that got fried from a voltage spike. Richter12x2 10-24-2007, 03:18 PM He's probably hearing the relay in the alarm itself click, not the starter solenoid firing. I'd check first to make sure they hooked it up at ALL. Eple 10-24-2007, 08:25 PM Also some kits need to "learn" the tach. Make sure that's been done as well. J_R 10-25-2007, 07:12 PM Thanks guys... I will check it out this weekend when I have a little more time. It was working before btw. |
