i would say it's the same as getting electrocuted. it felt like a heavy vibration... i was mowing the lawn on the side of my fence in the back yard when it happend. at first i was like, WTF?!ANTHRAX!!!! then i fell to the ground and was like, WOAH!!! wtf@!!

my mom was right there sweeping and she told me to go inside and she'll get some baking soda mixed with some water.. i put that stuff on my ear and it soothed it pretty well(i love my mommy:D)...

i must say, i've been stanged before, but this one hurt like a bitch. this all happend around midday of yesterday... i just thought i'd tell about it now that the forum is slow.

it was probaly a red wasp too. we get ALOT of those around here. those fuckhairs don't play around.

I found the makings of a wasp's nest INSIDE MY RACE TRAILER. I was NOT a happy camper after that.

No worries though. Brakleen + WD40 = no more bees. :)

I was stung by three wasps at the same time on my head. One was on my right eyebrow, another was on the hairline on the right side of my head, and the last one was on the hairline on the left side. My head swole up, and I wound up passing out from it.

The reason that I was stung by three of the damned things is due to the fact that I was hanging from a pine tree. I felt something poking me in the head, but it felt just like a pine needle poking me. Then, the immense heat fell on and my friends started flipping out. I was being stung for, like, 5 seconds straight before the heat set in.

I got fucked up. I couldn't even open my right eye after my head puffed up.

When I was a kid I took a T-shirt from the just-dried pile and, finding it to still be a bit damp, hung it on a hanger in an open window to sun dry.

About an hour later I took the shirt down, pulled it on, and went on my way. I felt something poking my upper arm, like a small needle. My dad heard the buzzing and we realized there was a queen bee trapped in my sleeve, repeatedly stinging me!

i thought bees could only sting once, then died? :dunno:

when i was little i was playing on a play ground with out a shirt, and got stung by a black wasp... i had to be carried home. Still to this day, that was the worst pain ever, even with me having gotten like a total of 20 million stitches.

I can't count how many times I've been stung. I'd say 90% off all the stings I've received are from ground hornets and yellow jackets.

Last year we had an enormous number of the giant hornets- easily 5x the body size of a standard hornet. They were munching on the cicadas non-stop. Occasionally I'll run across a nest of them, especially when cutting wood in the fall. They're not too terribly aggressive towards humans, but I always back off if I see few hanging around some trees.

My neighbor got hit by one of them a few years ago. He said it felt like getting smacked with a 2x4. He went into anaphylactic shock even after hitting himself with an epipen and spent a day in the hospital. He has some nice scar tissue where it 'bit' him (he was cutting wood at the time).

Honeybee drones have barbs on both ends of the stinger. One goes into you, the other end rips out their lower abdomen after stinging (which is why they die afterwards). I think the reason why is so the 'poison' is fully injected into the target.

Queen honeybees have smooth stingers, and can hit you repeatedly. However- the level of venom decreases after multiple hits.

IIRC, hornets, yellow-jackets and most wasps can sting repeatedly. regardless of sex and live to tell their tales (or have their tails).

Yellow jackets are fuckers because they bite AND sting.

Yes. Yellow-jackets are the assholes of the insect world, for sure.

The last car I bought sat for a while I put my hand into a wasp/hornet nest (not sure of the difference) when I was trying to hook the tow strap. Now that hurt... My whole arm was swollen for a week and I still have a scar.
