A lot of the kids I went to boot camp with didn't need to shave when they got there, all needed to (minus a very few baby-faces) do it by the end.. Myself, I went from needing to shave every 3-4 days to needing to shave every day (twice a day when we had inspections). Try it, it will work. So I was given a "shaving waiver" for a week. The sent us off for several days to the woods for "survival training" and I came back with a full beard. Except I didn't shave it off because it was only 5 days. Didn't matter what I did, I was the target. They couldn't yell at me for having a beard, but they found other ways. I was "special". The hair has no clue how long it is, the only "stimulating" that the hair experiences is being moved around while you're cutting the top off.
