My friend has an '86 300zx.
The balljoints are shot.
He tells me the balljoints are built into the A arms and cannot be replaced.
He's looking at $300+ each for A arms.
There must be some solution to this.
Does anyone know anything about this?
I seems like it must a common enough issue that there's a fix somehow.
Anybody know it?

pull the arms from a junkyard car

That's an option, but these are a wear item.
It's almost like going to the junkyard for brake rotors.
(Okay... not quite as bad, but you get my point)
I'm hoping somebody makes aftermarket A arms, or has figured out a way to replace just the ball joints. Seems like with the huge following that Z cars have, somebody out there must have a solution.

The ball joint is replaceable. There is a snap ring under the dust boot that must be removed and then the balljoint can be pressed out. TRW makes a new ballljoint (part# 10416) as does Moog (Part# K9631).
