Kona Girl D 04-14-2008, 10:03 AM what kind of gun? How often will you carry/how will you be dressed? I thought that might be important info. For my honey - bigger guy. 1 is a Tauras (sp?) 380, 1 is a Kimber - don't know much other holds extra rounds in the mag. He has looked at a couple styles of holsters. Ususally t-shirts and shorts or jeans - live in the PNW, weather permits ..... Any experiences with styles - positives or neg's - are appreciated. Thanks. 91lx 04-14-2008, 03:39 PM http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f348/axistang/MVC-002F.jpg This one is made by Shooting Systems. It only fits my compact Kimber, too small for others, too big for the Kel-Tec. Cosby 04-14-2008, 04:04 PM How much was the shooting systems one? Do you use the clipdraw? Does the tape hold up for a long time? Is the clip beafy enough for hiking and such? 1revnrex 04-15-2008, 08:10 PM How much was the shooting systems one? Do you use the clipdraw? Does the tape hold up for a long time? Is the clip beafy enough for hiking and such? Ive got a universal clip draw on my CZ and as long as you prep the surface correctly it holds perfect. Works great with sub compact pistols. Cosby 04-16-2008, 12:06 AM Im just worried that little ass metal clip will break Supper 04-16-2008, 01:48 PM Bah, the only way to figure out what holster is going to work is to try lots of em. Go to a good gunshop that will let you try out different holsters with dummy guns in them to see which holster will conceal best. If you have a narrow/vertical body shape (if that makes since) IWB will work best in my opinion. If you are a larger person with a gut (like myself) then OWB will work because your clothes normally hang more with more free space. When trying on the holster, put a gun in it and try doing normal every day things and see if you print. If you print when looking straight down on the gun but not when looking in the mirror, well, its up to you if you want it. The point of CCW is that not a soul knows you have it on you until you are ready to use it, and if that happens someone is going to die. edit: after all of that, my suggestions are as follows: Bladetech Safariland Galco custom leather holster from somewhere local. 1revnrex 04-16-2008, 06:14 PM Bah, the only way to figure out what holster is going to work is to try lots of em. Supper 04-16-2008, 09:01 PM +1 Bladetech +1 Safariland -5 Galco Not a big fan of Galco shit. Galco was thrown in there for an "economy" option. They can be found anywhere and are usually pretty cheap. But, they have cheap quality too. The price makes it easy to try lots of options, the durability makes it so you don't worry about hacking it up to try new shit if you need to. 1revnrex 04-16-2008, 09:10 PM Galco was thrown in there for an "economy" option. I have a Charter Arms .38 SPL Detective Snub and a UM soft holster that fucking sucks but I have one for a 1911 that I use for my CZ and it works great. OWB, it has good gun coverage to protect from brush, secures the hammer nicely, etc. All in all, worth the $20 because I won't care when/if it gets destroyed. Supper 10-28-2008, 08:37 PM Small of back wear is completely, and utterly, retarded. The risk of back injury when wearing in that fashion and seated in a vehicle isn't worth it. Let alone the limited access for drawing. If you carried it OWB at 3 o'clock and it stuck out you should have tried appendix carry or shifting it to 4 o'clock. tbreed725 11-20-2008, 09:45 AM ctac mtac if iwb if owb fist center of mass desantis , galco. |
