I've a Motorola H500 headset and a bluetooth adapter, and have installed widcomm drivers. I couldn't find Motorola-brand specific drivers, as Motorola will only sell you the widcomm drivers when you buy a newer headset but the generic driver I downloaded lists the h500 specifically as one of the headsets it supports
So I can get the computer to connect to the headset no problem, and recognise the passkey, etc. But I can't hear anything with it. When I try to click on "My Bluetooth Places" from the desktop, the icon goes translucent, registering the click, but doesn't open anything.
Is there another step I need to do to use the headset as audio and mic?

I think I understand what you're saying. I might be wrong.
The bluetooth itself shouldnt need special drivers, IIRC.
If you want to be able to autodetect it with your computer, there has to be a way to set the headset to "broadcast" or "Find me" mode.
Usually lasts 60 seconds so that some device can find and connect to it.

Yes, it does. To use a bluetooth adapter as an interface with a headset, you need widcomm drivers. hence the thread title.

As I already said in the first post, the computer does connect to the headset - as in it already went through the 'find me' and verified the passkey, and shows the headset connected under bluetooth devices. It just doesn't transmit or receive the audio signal.
