2ndGen.Rocket 07-06-2007, 02:42 PM I've used every detailing product known to man but have yet to try this whole system. I ordered some Z-5, Z-2, Z-6, and ZFX. Planning on claying the entire car to get all the old P21 wax off, and starting fresh. I'll hopefully be able to get at least 3 coats of Z-5 down, followed by 3 or 4 coats of Z-2. I'll post some pics this weekend with the results. Zero 07-06-2007, 02:45 PM I know this guy that took an EPA estimated explorer at 19mpg and is getting 35 mpg in it... He swears by zaino and estimates a 10% increase in mpg by using it... quite a big jump... oh, and it looks nice too. R281 07-06-2007, 09:11 PM SNTP's system worked for me. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-06-2007, 09:21 PM Yeah I've done all of that stuff, it's right off that autopia website. Those are the products I've always used, problem is that P21 doesn't last all that long. Right now I am liking the results of Zaino from what I've seen on various cars. Say No To Pistons 07-06-2007, 09:22 PM Nice. If you do plan on using P21S again, use S100 instead. Same thing with same results but at half the price. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-06-2007, 09:26 PM Nice. Say No To Pistons 07-06-2007, 09:33 PM I'm not sure but lots of bikers use them and they're available at many bike shops. The packaging even looks the same: http://www.topoftheline.com/p2carwax.html http://www.topoftheline.com/s100motorcyclewax.html Say No To Pistons 07-06-2007, 10:41 PM Non-synthetic waxes like carnauba will basically rub off if layered with something else (if you're using synthetic to layer a non-synthetic, the synthetic chemical will also have problems bonding with the surface). You layer carnauba waxes because you want to make sure you cover most if not all of the surfaces of your car. If it's a synthetic, then you can layer as much as you want and it will top the bottom layer, just make sure you let it cure. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-07-2007, 12:18 PM I got 3 coats of Z5 on the car yesterday after claying it and washing it twice. I'm waiting for the second coat of Z2 to dry right now. Will probably put one more on, then do another 3 tomorrow. The thing already looks heads and tails above what it used to. The last owner didn't do a good job with the paint so I've had a lot of water etching to deal with. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-07-2007, 12:29 PM Yeah I am thinking about it. They weren't joking, it actually does look like the car has another coat of clear on it. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-07-2007, 04:27 PM Definitely improved the color, and the depth of the paint. This is shitty factory Land Rover paint as well, with all sorts of orange peel. Supper 07-07-2007, 05:21 PM I bet you guys would shit your pants if you saw the paint on my pickup. There are probably four dozen chips on the hood where its down to bare metal, another dozen or so just above the windshield, two huge scratches down the left side of the bed, a dozen or so small scratches down the right hand side of the truck, visible stain from diesel fuel running down the side of the bed from overfilling, etc etc. I love work trucks :) 2ndGen.Rocket 07-07-2007, 05:24 PM I bet you guys would shit your pants if you saw the paint on my pickup. I like keeping my vehicles spotless Supper 07-07-2007, 05:37 PM Yeah probably. I like keeping my vehicles spotless function over form :) the vehicles I drive are lucky to get washed once every three months, usually once or twice a year. Whats the point in washing it when thirty minutes after its been washed its going to hit a dirt road again and just get dirty? I'd be washing my vehicles every day if I was worried about it. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-07-2007, 05:42 PM function over form :) the vehicles I drive are lucky to get washed once every three months, usually once or twice a year. Well, all depends on what you are using it for. I feel the condition someone's vehicle speaks volumes about their personality and how they carry themselves. Whenever I get in a car that's absolutely filthy I assume that person is a slob. No offense, just how I perceive things. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-07-2007, 05:43 PM looks pretty good for a rover, what year is it? 2000 Say No To Pistons 07-07-2007, 06:33 PM Well, all depends on what you are using it for. Supper 07-07-2007, 06:35 PM I've said it a million times and I'm tired of saying it, I'll just put it this way: This thread is a perfect example between a "city boy" and a "country boy." We always point and laugh at the people that keep their vehicles spotless. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-07-2007, 06:36 PM +1. It's like wearing the same dirty shirt everyday. Too bad some of our environments don't allow us to have spotless cars :( . How was the ease of use? One of the easiest things I've ever used. The only complaint I have is the dry time. When mixed with the ZFX it is supposed to be around a 20 minute dry time before you remove it, but it's humid down here so it was more like an hour. The Z2 seemed to take longer to dry than the Z5 as well. Other than that though, extremely easy to apply and remove. I used a 100% cotton towel like Sal Zaino suggests, and the stuff wipes off with ease, didn't apply any pressure at all. 2ndGen.Rocket 07-07-2007, 06:37 PM I've said it a million times and I'm tired of saying it, I'll just put it this way: This thread is a perfect example between a "city boy" and a "country boy." We always point and laugh at the people that keep their vehicles spotless. I grew up in the woods surrounded by pastures and corn fields. My cars were still clean. R281 07-07-2007, 10:32 PM I always try to keep my vehicles clean. I rarely go two weeks without washing them. Animal 07-07-2007, 11:22 PM When I wash my truck (usually once a month) I usually do a real good job on it. Use the HP wash at the DIY carwash, fill a bucket of water and scrub it by hand, then hose it off again with the high pressure. Pull it out and towel-dry it, hit any small paint gashes with that touch-up stuff. Usually apply Rain-X to the windows at this time, and throw some armor-all on external plastic parts. It looks damn good when i'm done with it, but it's nowhere near showroom-quality. The wheel wells are next to impossible to clean... i have some oil on the passenger side from going through a construction site, as well as chipping paint on the lip on the wheel wells. There's some dents/dings, but nothing major. Some of the plastic parts on the bumper are slipping off, the grey plastic on the drivers side front bumper is hanging about 3/4" below where it should. And when fucking quality autosound put in my speakers, they busted several plastic clips on the drivers side rear door panel... so the whole goddamn thing rattles... I washed my truck last week, it still looks decent but there's water spots on windows/mirrors from a little bout of rain. When I fill up I'll probably clean 'em up a bit. I'm anal about windshield/drivers window cleanliness, and i want to be able to see the what douchebags around me are doing. When I go to the horse pastures and it's muddy out there, i'll take pride in having a dirty truck for a few days, show it off a bit. speed_krazy 07-13-2007, 02:53 PM Does anyone have before and afters of zaino products on a darker car - preferrably a dark grey or black. I want to see the difference between that and poorboys. SpartanTS 07-13-2007, 03:41 PM I wash my car once every 10 days or so now. Does it no justice at all when it's dirty. Those Rover pics look pretty damn good. Looks like this stuff is definately worth a try. Say No To Pistons 07-13-2007, 04:14 PM try it and find out Do you work for fucking Zaino? Say No To Pistons 07-13-2007, 06:01 PM YOu mean Meguiars, Poor Boys, Sonus, etc etc? Sure.... rtryb2200 07-19-2007, 12:48 AM I think I washed my Honda once in the past year, I used to care when I had a nice truck maybe ever 2 weeks or so, but now it doesn't matter. IHI 07-20-2007, 01:27 AM I take my probe to a local car wash and spray it with "hot wax". |
