Ok here is what is going on. I moved out of my moms house last year, since then I have been working without a garage, besides the one at the dealership. Today I drove past the old place and lets just say it is in major disrepair. I have to put a new roof on the back room which is covered by a tarp right now, that and the deck is falling down beside the house. I started looking and saw that if I knocked out the deck I would have enough area for a 18ft wide area, but the thing is it is on the side of a hill. So after I fix the roof I am going to start on my own little garage.
What I am looking at building is a 18' wide pad bout 12 ft deep and put a garage on top of it that is about 16' by 11'. My main problem is a wall type choice. to get the depth I need I would need to build a wall 7-8' tall depending on the kind of slop I want to put on the entrance to my garage. This wall needs to hold the weight of a lift, a 10" think reinforced concrete floor. my tools and 2 cars and the weight of traffic on m old road.
My options so far are 10" cinder block, with rebar, filled with concrete, with 4ft anchors and a 2'x4' footer. This is my cheapest route. The next would be those interlocking retaining wall blocks which are suppose to hold more as more weight is applied but I know nothing about them. My main worry is the wall wanting to fall or slip because of the weight. Anyone have any suggestions.

Do you have to build this yourself or do you want to consider talking to an architect or architect student? What about building codes?
Sorry I am not going to be of much help.

drive your car unto a hydraulic lift they have a the dealership. it makes it look like a cool secrete room underneath your garage and also serves as, well, a hydraulic lift to work under your car.
