I found out something very strange today, the Mosin has a safety . . .

...I woulda never guessed :P

. . ..

I really want to find out if I can shoot .308 through my Enfield 2A instead of just some 7.62 NATO.

Is it really "Too powerful?" I get mixed messages from people. Some say "My gun blew up" but never provide pics or follow up. Some say "I shoot .308 all day" but still don't provide pix . . .

LOL

They're NOT

The Ishapore Enfield 2A was made to take 7.62, you know, same dimensions as the .308

You are correct in one way though: the older Enfield designs were .303

Both Mosins shot great. Very accurate! Makes my shoulder hurt though. This old powder burns so slow that the recoil is more of a push then a punch. Also leaves quite the fireball in the bullet's wake. (The ammo was made in 1948, yellow-tip heavy ball (182gr, I believe))

The Enfield 2A, however, is a punch in the shoulder, not as hard though. Crazy metal buttstocks. Shot a lot of M80 ball through it.
