Stegall 07-08-2002, 12:23 AM Coming home from sptbg tonight in the zx, i had a little race with a red late 80s vette.right as I passed the air port, this red vette comes by me. hes just riding beside me and he see him kinda looking at tmy cars. His windows were down so i droped it down a gear and gave it about 1/4 throttle and let the turbo spool up. when i did he looked at me, and instantly took off. he got a slight jump on me. I floored it right as he got on it, and i was about at his rear QP. we got on it at aobut 70, and we were dead even up to 120 mph. at 120, my steering wheel was shaking horribly, the rear end was making a funny noise, and I didnt want a ticket in a car that i dont have insurance or a tag for. lol, so I guess i gave up. It was dead even though, and he didnt appear to be letting off at all... guess he can have this one. I'll find him again though. HighTachPrez 07-08-2002, 02:02 PM 16 or 17" wheels? Stegall 07-09-2002, 08:49 PM on my z ? 16x7.5 Uglymexican19 07-09-2002, 11:21 PM 240 ? size? HighTachPrez 07-10-2002, 04:00 PM ? no on the vette Texas89LX 07-10-2002, 05:25 PM hes not fast enough to beat a ZR1 on a roll, unless the ZR1 wasnt aware they were racing. that should answer your question...... 07-10-2002, 06:39 PM they arent that fast Texas89LX 07-10-2002, 08:36 PM faster than a 15 or 16 second 240.... <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> 07-10-2002, 11:23 PM it was in his z31t Uglymexican19 07-11-2002, 12:06 AM 240's are slow Stegall 07-11-2002, 03:02 PM i assume the vette had stock 17s or what ever. like i said it looked like a late 80s earley 90s.. and texas, if you read the post again, you'll notice i was in a turbo 300, not the 240. Also you'll notice in the post i mention letting my turbo spool up ? If infact i ahd been ion the 240 and it had a trubo on it, say a sr engine, i would kill a zr1. also, i hardly think the 300zx would be a 16 second car. Not being a smart ass, but next time read the post insted of only the title. HighTachPrez 07-11-2002, 10:38 PM Stock ZR1 0-60: 4.9-5.2 1/4m: 12.5-13.7 Stock S14 w/ SR20DET 0-60: 6-6.5? 1/4m: mid 14s? HighTachPrez 07-12-2002, 05:32 PM SR20DET in S13 chassis: intake, FMIC, boost cont, full exhaust, ZX fuel pump, mmmmmmmm Now that would give a vette a run for its money Stegall 07-12-2002, 11:41 PM I think if I were to do a big time sr conversion it would defaintly be in a s13.. prob a 93 coupe. I dont much like the hatch, but i love the coupes. To be honest, Id almsot take a 93 coupe over my 96. Uglymexican19 07-13-2002, 04:48 PM u know u wont do it allen... I don't see where anyone got the idea to bring the ZR1 in at all.. if someone says, "c4 vette" I don't immediately think ZR1. It was a treat seeing this one on the dyno right after we ran the Civic in Jax.NC. Even bigger treat seeing him only put down .2hp more than the Civ. And we are only getting started. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">What is an S13? </td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'> s13 refers to the chassis code of the 89-94 (USDM) 240sx, in coupe or hatchback form. The S13a is the 89-90 with the KA24e, SOHC motor, and the 91-94 had the KA24de, DOHC motor. In the US the 240sx changed to the s14 chassis code in 95. 95-96 was the s14a, and the 97-98 was the s14b. I'm building a full JDM spec 180sx ('89 S13 hatch). Can't wait to get the SR and start working on it. 91lx 07-20-2002, 05:08 AM Why does everyone want an S13? Did everyone see the video of the stock Skyline GTR R34 getting smoked by the stock Porsche 911. Its on KaZaA. Those 2 questions arent related I was just sayin thats a badass japanese vid. Epik 07-30-2002, 05:44 PM </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Why does everyone want an S13? Did everyone see the video of the stock Skyline GTR R34 getting smoked by the stock Porsche 911</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'> personally, I am building my s13 for spending more time sideways. the s13 chassis has near 50/50 weight distribution, and once the power is brought up to even factory JDM specs, it becomes an entirely different car to drive. another reason is that the s13 chassis can be found very cheaply. for my current 180sx project s13 i pulled it literally out of the woods in NC for $300.. I have another at the shop I paid $600 for several months ago.. great start to a low buck very potent project car. Plus, they just look cool. don't get me wrong, it will be drag raced..street raced .. drifted. after all, it is my daily driver. and it will be fast. <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> 07-31-2002, 01:10 PM I got my RX7 (which also has 50/50 weight dist.) for $100 Stegall 07-31-2002, 10:29 PM rx7 chasis is auctauly better balanced then a 240. Texas89LX 08-01-2002, 12:04 AM which has the better polar moment of intertia? thats what would make a car easy or hard to control once sliding Stegall 08-01-2002, 12:51 PM probably the 240. Ive seen many rx7s drifted though. you can drift any thing, put in the right hands. i would drift my mustang all day long, and thats generaly a car you see get side ways for a few seconds. not power slid around turns. |
