Long read, worth it, etc.
I personally would feel a _whole lot_ safer if people like that were carrying.

"Maryland is not a traditional open carry state. However, should you be wealthy or connected enough to get one of the rare Maryland carry permits, Maryland law makes no distinction between open and concealed carry. But this would almost certainly result in the loss of the permit. We consider Maryland to be one of the top 5 rights restricted states in the union."

wotnartd 01-07-2008, 11:50 PM It's my opinion that anybody should be able to carry, so long as they take tests, kinda like getting a driver's license, before you're 18. You've got to jump through hoops, take class, take more classes, do lots of stuff, before you finally can do it, but it's worth it.
Tofuball 01-08-2008, 12:49 PM Perhaps. But if you ban the right to carry, the only ones who carry are going to be the ones who have no respect for the law, and they'll know they have a ripe and disarmed population to mug and rape.
czarofzar 01-15-2008, 04:17 PM Dont know the big deal. I play with guns with the guys once in a while and we dont harm anyone cep for certain mammals.
Forty-Four days and counting till I get mine. :D

dg123 02-16-2009, 02:28 PM Wow, and Maryland isn't even a commonwealth...
Washington state is rediculously easy to get a permit. The day you turn 21, you can literally get your permit the same day if your background checks come back quick enough. No safety classes, no qualifications, just be 21 and not be a felon or be convicted with assault or other violent misdemeanor. Took me 30 days only because of when I applied, and by that time the state is required to issue if nothing negative comes up on your background checks. You don't technically even need a permit here to carry since this state is open carry. So you could even pick up a pistol on your 18th birthday as a carry weapon so long as you open carry.
Tofuball 02-19-2009, 09:45 AM Oh quit bragging. :P
dg123 02-19-2009, 12:35 PM I try not to, really. :bigthumb:
There is a bit of a contradiction in this state though. Everytime I buy ammo, I get carded and a lot of the stores (Wal-Mart especially) have signs saying you must be over 21 or older to buy ammo. So while you could legally purchase and own a firearm when you turn 18, you can't buy any ammo for it
Tofuball 02-19-2009, 01:04 PM Lol. :P
I've only been carded once, and I said "No" and walked out of the store and never went back.

That's weird. It must be a store thing. I know that generally its 18 for long gun ammo, and 21 for pistol ammo. So if you're under 21 you have to say "rifle!" for all the ammo that can go in either.
Lol. :P

They usually don't card me at Wal*Mart when I open carry in there.
I also usually buy ammo by the case there.
Steel 03-10-2009, 02:13 PM Still waiting on my permit... damnit. Theres been a rush so i know the arizona department of public safety is bogged down with ccw permit applications.
Tofuball 03-13-2009, 12:36 PM ^ Any luck yet?
