I say we let aborted fetuses push the lethal injection button on criminals sentenced to death. It all evens out in the end.

Too many falsely or wrongfully convicted people are released for me to condone capital punishment. If its uncontested, e.g. a guilty plea, sure.

On the other side of the coin, I think prison should be a punishment, not a day camp. Canadian Forces military prisons only grant you the right to speak when spoken to, you must keep your assigned areas spotlessly clean, etc. They have less than 1% return rate. Federal and provincial/state prisons should be just as strict. They should be a place you don't want to go to and, if you do, you absolutely don't want to return.

Yup... I'm for stricter punishments all the way around. Make them give back to society; chaingangs, etc. Don't let them take it easy, make them work and let it be a punishment.

Rape.... bahaha.... you'll be sitting in jail for 20 years, no less.

Death penalty? Nope.

chaingangs could do something productive, too. shackle 'em to the counters @ the local food banks 8 hours a day. Have them pick garbage out of highway ditches with 20,000 volt "run-and-stun" proximity anklets or collars on. Make 'em paint over graffiti on schools every sunday morning, when the grounds are otherwise deserted. And so forth.

We make too many mistakes to be killing anybody. Plus I don't like the idea of the state having that much power.

I've always considered the death penalty to be the easy way out of things....

Sure, you can take a guy's life... But he's already been waiting for that to happen, and plus when it's all said and done, nothing's really accomplished....

Make a guy work and think about his sins for the rest of his life...

the more we kill, the less we have to pay for housing.

edit:

a bullet to the head outside the courthouse is much cheaper then the years and years and years of appeals.

I think certain criminals deserve the death penalty(based on their crimes); such as serial rapists/child molesters. In most instances, they are never reformed. I say kill'em all....let jeebus sort'em out.

public lashing works in south east asia.

Nothing more embarassing than to be someone's asshat, bare-back, tied up and with a guy behind u with a whip.

I understand that whips are dipped in a spicy solution and the first whip will make a grown man faint.

Take away someone's pride and social status and there are going to be less crimes.

Caning works too.

IMHO convicted drunk drivers should be publicly caned in the square by city hall, 'neath a sign stating their name and offence.

Of course, I'm just a bleeding heart liberal...

Slave labor.

It costs money to house people, it costs money to kill people, it earns money to force people to work.

Plus the next-to-free labor would lower prices on goods for the rest of us.
