D-Rock 07-23-2008, 12:13 AM Well, this forum has been kinda dead....
So who has their concealed carry?
What do you carry?
How often do you carry?
I am taking my CCW class in about 3 weeks, but i need to pick up a good carry gun since my full size 1911 is not very practical...
I am VERY excited about this... more so because it is a family thing, my brother mother and father are all doing the course together which makes me feel a whole lot better knowing my mom will be able to carry and defend herself with her lil p22
Turbo II Rotor 07-23-2008, 12:18 AM It's damn near impossible to get one in NJ. I'll have one once I move out of state.
D-Rock 07-23-2008, 12:34 AM I hear it is pretty easy here in Colorado... Hell, it is even legal for me to carry on my campus... though some people want that changed... i can guarantee that no Virginia tech would happen if i was around some fucker trying to shoot up the place, though i doubt id carry to school very often, and NEVER to a bar or party...
i think about the only time i would be carrying is when i am dropping off large amounts of cash at the auction house or when driving anywhere when i have/will have large amounts of money... but it will be good to know the laws and get the practice and techniques of a safe and responsible shooter... there is always room to improve
Tofuball 07-23-2008, 07:57 AM Basically imposable in MD unless you have connections.

Sue the bastards! Anybody who lives somewhere that you can't just go get a permit at the DMV should sue!
I have mine. :peace: But TN is still basically a free state too. We don't have a state income tax either. I carry all the time. I like to stick with my M-9. I like to have one pistol that I shoot so much I could do it in my sleep.
Tofuball 07-23-2008, 06:06 PM Sue who? How?
We don't even have a DMV here, it's called the "MVA" :P

The state. Just like that guy did when he sued DC. He should go back and sue for the right to carry or "Bare Arms".
Tofuball 07-23-2008, 10:23 PM DC had a total gun BAN. As in, you could not even have one in your house.
Also, I don't have that kind of money and time to pull that off.
Turbo II Rotor 07-23-2008, 10:52 PM Me neither, but I live in the safest city in the US. I'll get one when I move.
Steel 07-24-2008, 09:29 PM Got denied the conceled specifically in mass... it depends on the chief of your town. Mines a dick.
When i get to AZ, its the first thing i'm going to get. But you can open carry there too, which i will do as well.
Tofuball 07-24-2008, 09:52 PM In MD, you can get a CCW if you "Transport large amounts of money to the bank for a retail store"
But you can't get one if, say, you're a woman who likes to jog. They have a major rape problem, especially in College Park. I guess to our gov't officials, money is worth something and women ain't.

Yeah, in WI you can't conceal and carry, but you can open carry, unless you're a cop, they carry all the time.
And it's funny, because Wisconsin is a red state. All the dems I know want CCW, the repubs don't. Figure that one out.

your lies cannot trick me.... no repubs would dare go against the will of the NRA!!!
Cosby 07-31-2008, 08:50 AM I'm finally sending off my huge packet of crap you have to fill out to get mine. I just came from that cross country trip and I didn't see a single person open carry.

I believe the NRA gives McCain a C+
D-Rock 08-13-2008, 11:49 AM Finished my class and now need to decide on either a holster for my full size 1911... or a more realistic carry gun/holster combo...
Supper 08-13-2008, 01:51 PM Would I tell you if I had one?
The point of CCW is that noone knows you are packing until you pull it, and when you pull it you better be ready to at least wound, if not kill, somebody.

if it ever got to the point that i would have to draw, i am most certainly not going to be worried about the threatening party's well being until they are not a threat

Thats not my point. My point is that no one should know that your are packing until the moment it leaves your holster. You don't get a CCW To broadcast to the world "Hey look, I'm carrying a concealed weapon!" Because if you did you would become the first target no matter where you are. You get a CCW so you, and only you, know you have a firearm on your person. You get a CCW so that you can have that firearm when in a crowd yet still blend in. You get a CCW so that when that time comes that you must skin that smokewagon ( ) you can do so with the knowledge that it will be a surprise to everyone present and hopefully be a deadly surprise to those that mean to do you harm.
A few quotes for you:
"An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it."
Jeff Cooper
"Do what you can, where you are, with what you have"
^ The fundamental idea behind CCW.
"for those that understand, no explanation is necessary; for those that don't, no explanation will suffice."
In other words; if you don't get it, stop trying. It will only come to you in time.
"Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far."
Theodore Roosevelt
I will rage against the dying of the light. For I will not go down easy and I will not go down alone.Because if you go down fighting, just make sure that you take a couple of the badguys with you.
edit: still trying to find one that is stuck in my mind that goes something like "Do no harm but unto those that mean to do harm unto you."

definitely not arguing with you, those are all valid points and thoughts i have had, main idea for a thread like this is to get ideas for a carry gun and holster combo... a full size 1911 is not going to work out for me...
