Okay, so here's the deal. You request a CD and I will try and find it for you. If I find it, I will post a rapidshare or megaupload URL so that you can download it for free. These will be complete and CD quality.

I'll try my best to find your requests and if I find it, I will post a link. If I don't post a link with your CD, then I couldn't find it.

Alright then, who's first?

Wait.. what's the catch?

There's no catch, honestly. Just request a CD and I'll try to find it to you. I don't benefit from this and you don't owe me anything afterwards, I'm just trying to get a little more traffic in this section.

This does require you making requests however.

Not looking for any specific cd's just anything by Tiger Army, Catch 22, Streetlight Manifesto, The Germs, The Misfits, Bad Brains, The Addicts. I'll post more as I remember them. Closest thing to a record store here is the wal-mart, and as you already know, their selection sucks.

You'll have to give me some time with the other ones but this should keep you busy for a little while.

Remember, it isn't stealing if you intend to buy it.... eventually.

Damn, thanks. If I ever run across the orginals of any of the bands I posted I intend to buy.

Where do I get winRAR?

Ark2
04-27-2007, 05:29 PM
For WinRAR go here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

I recommend that you download WinRAR 3.70 beta 7 (you'll find it at the top of the page).

After you've intalled it, double click on the RAR files that you've downloaded and it will automatically open WinRAR for you so that you can extract. Once you've done this just click the wizard icon at the top of the page. It will ask you where you want to extract the files to. Once you've chosen a destination, click finish and it will extract for you. Once it's done you can listen to your music.

Recently I've been looking for decent acapella albums, decent stuff is hard to find. Back in high school I heard an acapella CD that was like a comedy routine being sung. It was damned funny but I can't for the life of me remember who did it.

Bullets & Octane-In the Mouth of the Young

Anyone into hard rock... download this... blends the lines between thrash/punk/metal but all in all... is all out hard rock with elements of all stated previously. Good album, tracks 1-5 are easy to listen to straight through.

Glad I could provide a challenge :D

Kinda like "Raise the Red Lantern" soundtrack. I searched -everywhere- for that damn CD, ended up buying it, had to be imported from China.

A few years after I got it and shared it with a few people, most of the copies of it I could find were all traceable to the disc I bought :)

Yep. That one is abunch of unreleased songs put together long after they disbanded. Operation Ivy was only around for 3 years and released 2 records. All of their cds/LPs are expensive. Just a re-release of Energy runs over $30 if you can find it. I'll take whatever you can find but if you come across Energy you'd make my day.

The .RAR file is a compressed folder. When you extract the file (simply follow the instructions on the first page if you are unsure of what to do) the songs are available as MP3s. All you have to do is open the file once it's been extracted and the MP3s are there for you to play or burn to a CD or whatever.

rapidshared.org is a good place to start. You won't find anything rare there but it's pretty easy to use. You're best bet will always be google though. Just type in what you are looking for and add "+ rapidshare"

How do you find all this stuff?

Forums, blogs, torrents, certain programs work sometimes and when all else fails, google. After that you're shit out of luck.

Just a suggestion to throw out:

I may get called a douche for this, I understand. However, the first (and only) major release by Audiovent, called "Dirty Sexy Knights in Paris" is a ridiculously good album. It had that single "The Energy" that was on the Madden 2003 soundtrack. A lot of the songs on the album have a deep personal connection for me, mainly because I was listening to that album at a certain strange time in my life. However, I just busted it out again the other day, and almost forgot how good some of the songs actually were. Really, straightforward rock album. The only way I can describe it is, "sonically clean". There are heavy hard rock songs, but the vocals are delivered very crisp, and very powerful. The lead singer is actually Brandon Boyd of Incubus' little bro. This is what turned so many people away from the album. In any case, check out "Looking Down", and "Rain", and "The Energy" off of this album, it is one of my widely overlooked and under-appreciated favorites.

Let me know what you think after you give them a listen. I don't share this album often, because for some reason it really bombed, even with hard rock fans. I think it had a lot to do with the Incubus ties, people assumed nepotism got these guys a deal. No one seemed to pay attention that they were actually really good. Singer has one of the better voices I've ever heard.

Ark2

Definate quality. I downloaded "The Energy" a while back using Limewire (before I knew better) and loved that song. The other songs you posted, after first listen are in the same class. Surprising that they never became very popular (meanwhile Linkin Park can't stop selling albums ). I would love to hear the album in it's entirety(sp?), of course, if that's not something that you feel comfortable doing, I know where to find it.

Isn't it weird? Most people just heard they suck so they never gave them a listen. Meanwhile they could've really done something in music. Definitely one of my faves. I haven't taken the time to read through all of this, but I like the idea of uploading a track that you like, from a band you like that maybe no one knows of. Give a description of it, why you like it, etc and then post a link. I love getting new music.

Here is a track I got into from Band of Horses named "Weed Party". It's kind of laid back, indie rock. It is interesting though in the way the chorus is structured, not a very traditional song format. Great lyrics too, reminds me of highschool. These guys are from Charleston SC, not a huge fan of their other stuff but I think song is great.

Ok one more for the night while it is on my mind. This is a song called "Communication Breakdance" by Rye Coalition. They are a kick ass new/throwback rock band that has been around for a while, but not anywhere in the public eye. They are sort of a Strokes/Kings of Leon type group, with a bit more edge. This song just rocks, it's from the album titled "Jersey Girls".

is that rehashed Velvet Revolver?

I'll stick with AC/DC...after 2,000+ hearings, the infectious hook of "Flick of the Switch" still goes right into my blood like a shot of adrenaline

old school still rules
Little harder and more punkish than VR... you can't discredit VR though. "Slither" has to be one of the best rock songs ever, very catchy. I liked a few more songs off their debut album. I got their 2nd album which came out a month or so ago... I tried listening to it, and really didn't hear anything I liked.

I really like the first 5 songs off of the bullets & octane album. Don't knock it until you listened to it.

I'm not a big Zep fan by any stretch, but they were true hard rock originators...the beatles were a pop band
Much of Led Zeppelin was influenced by many other genres than "hard rock." When I think of hard rock, they don't come to mind. Your favorite, AC/DC certainly defines hard rock though.

Early Godsmack or their newer stuff?
All of it's pretty much the same, except for "the other side" which is good too. I love every album they've came out with. A few great songs on "godsmack" and "awake"... "the other side" is a great small acoustic album. "Faceless" is one of the RARE cds you can pop in and listen from start to finish... I think that's one of the best albums I've ever heard that really gets no attention.

I wouldn't mind an AC/DC discography... All I have is the greatest hits cd and a few singles that weren't on there. Never heard the "flick of the switch" song yzf was talking about it... will def download when I get home. That's why I love metal/hard rock, it gets me amped. :)

I listen to a veryyyyyyyy wide variety of stuff depending on my mood though.

Ark2

The guy criticizes the band for not changing? I think all of their albums sound a lot of like... it's their sound. Kind of like disturbed, both cd's sound nothing like anything except each other. If you like 1 cd, you'll like the other. I'd rather bands stick with what they're doing if it's good. Completely changing for sales = disaster... remember Metallica?

You know, I love U2. The old U2, anyway. Bono, however, can go fuck himself. I understand people trying to use their fame and popularity for a cause, but it seems like he uses his fame and popularity to find a cause to make himself into some sort of saint or something. He needs to STFU and get back to just being in U2.

No, he needs to drink some bleach. Not enough to kill him mind you, just enough to end his "singing" career.

Hey, I still listen to The Joshua Tree. They were good back then.

I'm thinking about uploading every album I've got on my hard drive... That should give me something to do.

Ever since you got me hooked on Rapidshare, I must have 200 albums on here now.
