Steel 02-21-2009, 06:32 PM Yeah so... Even after years of riding experience, new rider mistakes can happen to anyone. I finally managed to wreck my bike

To make a long story short, I went into a corner too quickly and ignored my experience of powering through the turn and instead panicked and slammed on teh brakes, to dire consequences. Glad i was wearing all of my gear, i ran RIGHT into a bush that had thousands of 1" spines. Well and rocks and dirt and stuff which messd up my bike.
Luckily it seems as of most of the damage is cosmetic. Looks like i get to turn her into a hooligan bike now too!. Im not really tooooo heartbroken at the front being all smashed up, but i am pissed that the tank got dinged so bad. I can't imagine that a new tank is very cheap... but its my favorite part to look at when it's freshly waxed (along with a certain female bodypart...)
Anyone know if suzuki makes a touch up paint that i can buy to keep that part of the tank from corroding should i decide to keep the battle wounds?
Meh so. Meh. Gonna go nurse my pride now.
czarofzar 02-21-2009, 06:41 PM dont die yet. steel/czar part duex coming soon.
Steel 02-21-2009, 07:11 PM Yes.
$100T2 02-21-2009, 07:14 PM I'm pretty sure the dealer will have an exact match touch up paint. Bikes are notorious for getting dings, so you should be able to get it in a bottle that will look like a nail polish bottle, complete with the little brush in the cap.
Steel 02-21-2009, 07:16 PM Cool. I dont even think i'll bother trying to pull the dent out.. that's an exercise in frustration methinks.

Fill it in with bondo and paint it. Nobody will know. :D

Ugh. No wai.
Looks like i'ma be making some custom headlight+ turn signal mounts, since these fuckers on the internet want to charge like, $500 for the same. Fuck that. That or see how much a replacement front fairing + headlights are. It's unfortuante taht i have to replace the headlights because their mounting tabs got smashed all to hell. Otherwise they're a bit scratched but ok.
wotnartd 02-21-2009, 11:19 PM As long as you're okay, we're all happy.
Steel 02-21-2009, 11:35 PM replacement cowl, headlights and associated pieces, $750+
Streetfighter bike it is.
Fendamonky 02-22-2009, 06:32 AM I was always under the impression that, when riding bikes, it's not a matter of if you are going to crash, it's a matter of when you are going to crash.
Good thing you had all your gear on!!! 1" thorns sound like they would SUCK!

Yeah, you're pretty much spot on with that. The old saying goes that there's two types of riders; Those who have gone down and those who will. Hopefully this will be the only time for me. I'm just miffed that it was my own stupid fault instead of something out of my control like another driver being a douche... like the dude that almost hit me on the highway the night before cutting me off. Then again, this type of wreck tends to not kill the rider so I guess I'll count my blessings,
And yeah, pretty much every plant in this part of the country wants to kill you!
I'm still having a tough time whether I want to go with a large single headlight, two smaller headlights side by side, or go a little crazy and take a couple of projectors and stack them on top of each other... hmm. I guess i'll figure that out while the soreness in my body goes away and let you guys know.

Steel 02-22-2009, 12:12 PM I'll wait for the zombies to come for that one...

Dude, get yourself two 99 spec FD running lights, stick a high power bulb in as he main and you'd be in business!! lol
Steel 02-22-2009, 08:03 PM acturally, I ordered a 6x2" stacked headlight set. Looks different, so I liked it, and an instrument cluster relocation bracket. I'm still not sure if i'm going to get barend mirrors or not, but I'm sticking with the clipons instead of mountning handlebars.
