Fendamonky 10-01-2008, 01:56 PM Has a new F.O.B. working on the phone.. I just called in and ordered some fried rice and a Kung Po Chicken (General Tso's) and it all went *ok* (as in I had to guess most of what she said) until it came to taking my name.
She asked, and I told her, Levi. Then I spelled it out L - E - V (as in very) - I. It's spelled the same as the jeans I said.
She lets out half a giggle then says "ok Lee-Ri, ya?"
"No, no. LeVi, with a "V" like Victor. You know the type of jeans, 501?" I replied.
Her response: "Ahh... no, don't know them. I spelled it R - E - G - I, that ok?"
I can't help but laugh a little at this point, because I can see this going down hill, fast. So I just agree that that would be fine, and I'll be the only American there in 15 minutes.
I's been :owned:
Anybody got similar stories?? I'm going to get mah food!
DarkAngelKamui 10-01-2008, 02:01 PM lol, you know it's hard for them to pronounce Rs and Vs, yeah?
Edited cuz I forgot about the R
wotnartd 10-01-2008, 02:07 PM lol, you know it's hard for them to pronounce Vs, yeah?
I can't imagine why, with those buck teef.
Fendamonky 10-01-2008, 02:20 PM lol, you know it's hard for them to pronounce Vs, yeah?
Oh yeah, I'm aware. Thats why I went to length to specify that it was V =P
Fendamonky 10-01-2008, 02:22 PM And the chicken is crap. Complete, unadulterated crap. I've had better at a $5.00 buffet in the states =(
Teenwolf1393 10-01-2008, 10:00 PM kung pow is not general tsao
Fendamonky 10-02-2008, 12:22 PM kung pow is not general tsao
Thanks for clarifying, I really had NO idea. I just figured you American's might understand what I meant better if I made that connection.
It is, however, the closest thing in this country of god forsaken culinary catastrophes...
Fendamonky 10-02-2008, 12:26 PM Edited cuz I forgot about the R
The funny thing, though, is that ALL the Korean's I went to boarding school with when I was younger pronounced my name "Ree-Bai"
I never really figured that one out, I just chuckled and went along with it. They accepted me as an honorary member of the KP (Korean Posse) at the school. Of course, I also learned a bit of Korean in the process (forgotten now) so that helped. Just like I learned a fair amount of Japanese later in High School (also forgotten due to lack of use), and Cantonese during the three years I took Kung Fu. Also forgotten =(
All that talk, and I never learned how to use a Wok.
Shame!
aznpoopy 10-02-2008, 02:21 PM i have a similar story
one time i went to pick up my grandma from the airport
then i realized she was a fob
so i punched her in the face
DarkAngelKamui 10-02-2008, 02:30 PM lol, lies
You couldn't even punch out the little holes in a Capri Sun pouch, ya softie.
aznpoopy 10-02-2008, 02:36 PM true
ok so i tapped her gently on the nose
but then we shipped her fob ass back to china in a box
and we didn't label it fragile...
DarkAngelKamui 10-02-2008, 02:39 PM

You can. Though to clarify this is only if it bites your neck hard enough to draw blood during the process.
