Okay, so, I'm looking for suggestions on cigars from any experienced people on here. I don't smoke them often; which is why I really care about quality. I only smoke when there is a good cause, and I don't want to ruin my good times with a sub-par stoggie.

So far, I have tried CAOs, Arturo Fuente, Montecristo, Davidoff, and some other lesser known brands. I currently have a Macanudo Gold Label on deck. From the ones that I have tried, they were good, don't get me wrong, but I think they leave something to be desired. I don't know if this Macanudo is the key or not, but I'm looking for suggestions.

I have heard a lot about Macanudos and Cohibas, but I have not given them a shot yet. Does anyone here have any experience with these brands? What about Romeo y Juliets? Partagas? Any other brands that I should give a shot?

Like I said, I don't smoke them often, but when I do, I want them to be top notch. With that said, I'm not looking to spend over ~$30 for a cigar. Maybe if you guys recommend one highly enough, I splurge on a more expensive one, but as of right now, I'm not looking to purchase a really outrageously expensive one.

Anything? Please?

Thanks.

-Shawn

Macanudo is usually one of the most popular brands.

Davidoff, La fuente and a few others are at the top.

I have them all.

Yep, and driving a car can kill you.

Fuck off.

No, but the shit that spews from your mouth certainly seems toxic.

I wasn't looking for a Surgeon General's health warning, Mark. I'm fully aware of the dangers of smoking; just like I'm sure you're fully aware of the dangers of driving a car, especially, a car as powerful as yours.

Fuck off.

Apples != Oranges.

Smoking causes instant health damage and continued use is always sure death. True, many people do die from car crashes, but 99% of the time it's from another influence than cars just randomly hurting you. Some people have driven for well over 60 years now, and have 0 bad health factors because of it. A smoker has damaged their body from the first puff. 100% pure science.

It's your body. Do what you want to it.

I used to smoke cigars. Not worth it IMO.

But... with that said, best cigar I ever smoked was a Romeo y Juliette No.1

Good luck finding one of them in the states though. Punch is pretty good. Fuente's are shit IMO. There was this really dark nicaraguin (sp?) wrapper, something like Pyramid, that went great with a stout lager. My favorites were in a conneticut wrapper. YMMV.

It's still bad for you, but far better than smoking a cigarette. You don't inhale cigars, from what I've been told. (never intend to try it)

It's your body, I suppose.

I don't smoke too often myeslef, and if I do, it's usually the hookah with some sweet melon flavor shisha. But I do enjoy the occasional cigar.

I usually keep the humidor with some Aristoff blacks in it. Double coronas. Quite good, but not too expensive.

That is my speed.

driving a car is not inherently toxic

being exposed to that exhaust in reverse, at a stop light/sign.

there's more exposure to some man-made chemicals.

:puke:

damn, didn't you used to hang out with jeff and me when we would smoke? I don't remember us ever toking on the sweets.

First time I smoked a "cigar" was swishers, smoked something like 5 or 6 packs of em that night. I'll never be able to smoke em again.

Someone died because of rotary fumes not too long ago.

edit: Makes me wonder what Steve Kan's lungs look like.

Not really a cigar but Hades' post reminded me. If you can find Djarium Splash clove cigarettes, they're pretty darn good.

I'm a fan of Trinidads when I feel like spending money.

Otherwise I like Partagas, Macanudo Maduros, Romeo y Julieta, and Fuente.

H. Uppmann's hand-rolled products are good, but only a few are hand-rolled, and the machine-produced stuff is crap.

IMO Cohibas are overrated, as are Ashton.

Yeah these are really good, especially if you're in the mood for something different. Strong as hell, too, try not to inhale too much the first time.:owned:

driving a car is not inherently toxic

exhaust fumes from a rotary, working with POL, etc are all carcenogenic

Life is the #1 cause of death.

Worrying about what might kill you will give you a heart attack.

We lack a good tobacco shop near my house, so we always end up with Phillies Titans. They're not particularly great, but they're better than anything else we can get our hands on.

Well, I have a Tinder Box at a local mall, and I'm know of a couple other hole in the wall "Smoker's Haven" type places, as well.

The other day, at the mall where the Tinder Box is, Macanudo had an RV in the parking lot. They are apparently on a tour of the country. If I smart, I would have stopped by to maybe pick up a couple stoagies for cheap.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions, guys. I understand it's a personal preferrence type deal, but having an idea of what other people like gives me a clearer shot at what I should atleast give a shot.
