Sean_no_car 04-02-2002, 11:18 PM Alright...this is a question about B-Series cylinder heads.
I've always thought that the B16A/B17A/B16B/B18C-R/B18C5 (all the same except for a few valvetrain differences and the mild port & polish) series heads were much better flowing than the B18C1 (Integra GSR or SiR-G) head.
But, apparently I was thinking all wrong. Besides the butterfly-valve intake manifold and a few things that can be solved w/ a port and polish - it's actually better because of the higher ports on the head. Or something like that. I ws doing a bit of research and this came up.
Anyone know anything about it?
Ben Howard 04-02-2002, 11:37 PM I know that the GSR head is the best to go with. The head kicks ass. From the way they made the alignment of the ports to the intake manifold all the way to the combustion chambers that are more boxed than the ones on the B16 cast head. Thats all the info i can give you Sean...take it as a lesson. Open your eyes to things. Type R shoulda came with this head. Youre a..."non believer"...

Let me add that the clearance issues on this head arent what the B16 cast head are. Meaning...that you cannot run the CTR pistons or any other really high domes as easy as you can with the B16 cast head. Theres more info non believer.

Sean_no_car 04-02-2002, 11:42 PM I did say it was better Benny Boy! pay attention <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
Ben Howard 04-02-2002, 11:43 PM I didnt say you said it wasnt better. Pay attention Sean <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
Sean_no_car 04-02-2002, 11:50 PM Thanks for confusing the s### out of me Ben! But it's OK! <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
Clearance issue? Are you saying that modifications would have to be made to the head to run domed pistons? I don't want milling but an 11.5:1 CF would be the best <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
Ben Howard 04-03-2002, 12:19 AM Youre fine. Just the stroke of the 1797cc or 1834cc bottom end would leave the pistons too high comming outta the deck. Would know the head straight off. Actually would float pistons. Would have to run 3 layer just to be semi safe. Its been done though...
And about confusing you...deal with it! <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>
