ok im about 3 miles from home in the 88 lx doing 65+ in a 40 which is a very straight road then forks and heads either to town or the country. i pass a cop and thinking hes not paying me any attention to my speed. he throws on his blue lights as soon as he spots me and hits his brakes. his giant car is nosediving and im thinking: nail it and leave his ass or get a 6-point ticket and huge fine. hmm..... i nail it and take the right sweeper at 120+mph. stop at the stop sign a mile ahead which comes up in about 25 seconds and accelerate straight ahead. take a left and get up to about 80mph again. ut oh 2 bunnies in the road. slow down just enough to let them pass and get back up to speed. i take a right and go about 5 miles. take a left and drive for a while til i figure out where im at. take the back roads and hope i dont see a cop on the way. well i just made it home. no ticket and no cops in sight. not sure if hes still looking for me but the car is cooling off in the garage. think im gonna get some better brakes i could some extra stopping power :)

The actual choice is, 6-point ticket and huge fine or run and take a chance that u might loose control from going into a corner too fast and going to jail, loosing ur license for I think it is 6 months for "failure to stop for blue light". I ran from them for a long time and then one time too many and I did just that, lost it in a curve. It happens in real life like u see it on TV, ur pulled out of the car and thrown to the ground and hancuffed. It's not fun I tell ya. I don't mean to rain on ur parade, just letting u know what COULD have happened by my own experience.

ive ran and got caught once. the cop got within sight because there was too much traffic on the road (chris was behind me who was speeding also). the cop passed him and got me. 450$ and no points. if i wasnt comfortable driving that fast i wouldnt have done it.

Its best just not to speed I think. I do about 5 under everywhere. Partly for gas reasons (closed loop isnt setup yet). The other part is I havent had a ticket in a while and it isnt THAT hard not to get one.

what chris said...

"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of tickets"

I usually try to go within about 5 mph of the speed limit. 5 over or so. That way, if a cop does decide to give me a ticket, it's for 2 pts and like 50 bucks. Usually they don't even look my way if i'm under 10 over.

glad you didn't get caught, but I'm so against running from the cops.. you are lucky. :)

yeah in a sense they are there to protect you from yourself. i guess its the way they abuse their power and usually always act cocky that i hate. most female cops really have a chip on their shoulder. i know some awesome ones but they all break the same laws they enforce.

I usually try to do 5+speedlimit. But sometimes you don't notice it so I try to use the cruise control a lot. Last night I drove by a gville popo on 85 at 70mph. Speed limit was 60. I was like DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! B/c i usualy only do 5 over . They didn't chase me though. About 2 minutes later I saw them flying up on some1.

I'm very comfortable at driving fast, I've been doing it for quite along time, but there's a difference in driving fast and driving fast to get away. When trying to get away, ur actually going faster which will cause u to not slow soon enough for a curve.
