fcdrifter13 05-24-2006, 06:03 AM Anyone here shoot in any competitions. Just wanted to know. And if so how hard is it to get in something like that. Monut(SP), long range, dosnt matter to me, I am just lookig for something new to get into, cars are getting old, the internet is getting old, and so is porn. Supper 05-27-2006, 08:50 AM If you want a big challenge, get into long range tactical shooting. Most of it is unknown distance, as well as having pistol courses worked in between rifle courses of fire. They also do night comps, inclimite weather comps, pretty much anything that a "tactical marksman" (sniper) in the field would see, they try to put it in the course of fire. If you want a really sweet rig to compete in one of them, go see GA Precision (http://www.gaprecision.net) and have them build you an A5 based stick, probably something in the .30 cal range, either the tried and true .308 or something more radical like the .300 Lapua or .300RUM Grand Wizard Hornsby 05-30-2006, 05:17 PM i like to shoot dog. Say No To Pistons 05-30-2006, 06:08 PM ^ make sure you take some english classes too. Animal 05-30-2006, 09:47 PM I was on the rifle team one semester when I was at UW... Dues were $20 or so, unlimited ammo, equip. provided, 2hrs x 2days/week. Did a few competitions against other schools in Wyo. (I wasn't in ROTC, it was open to anyone) http://www.uwyo.edu/armyrotc/cadetrifleteam.asp Hades12 06-07-2006, 12:10 PM I was on the High school team for a bit, But ended up missing to many practices to go to the meets. Say No To Pistons 06-07-2006, 03:30 PM ^ wow they had competition shooting in your HS? what other sports did they have other than the regular volly ball, bowling, billiards, foot ball, baseball, soft ball, hand ball, etc etc..? Hades12 06-11-2006, 11:13 PM ^ wow they had competition shooting in your HS? what other sports did they have other than the regular volly ball, bowling, billiards, foot ball, baseball, soft ball, hand ball, etc etc..? ROTC Was the only other sport type. It was kind of funny, I was 16 at the time, could not buy the rifle or the ammo to shot. RoadRaceJosh 06-12-2006, 12:01 AM If you want to shoot timed pistol matches the Glock GSSF is an easy way to get started. I shot in a GSSF match the 4th and sucked it up. I didn't practice and it showed. I still had fun though. fcdrifter13 06-20-2006, 03:04 AM Im still looking for a new gun then I will enter my first pistol match, for some reason though 9mms seem so small to me. Brokenone 06-20-2006, 06:25 PM Most of the guys at the range here are shooting .40 and having pretty good results with them. wayneard3413 10-29-2007, 06:56 PM Really what you shoot is going to be determined by the event your shooting... A 9mm is going to almost always be considered a minor caliber so your going to be digging yourself out of a hole to begin with... But if your just wanting to do the occasional comp then i would say get whatever type weapon you would actually have a use for. |
