So I moved to my new place for the summer in North Atlanta yesterday. It is in a really nice subdivision, that is fairly expensive. It's unfortunate that all the houses they are building now all look the same. There's no personality in any of these new subdivisions. I've actually driven past my place twice already, because I couldn't tell it apart from the others.

Park your 7 (do you even have one still?) in front of the house til it hemorrhages oil all over your driveway. It will mark your territory forever. You should see my power driveway (the folks hate me, I really need to get rid of my MOP).

The house looks good, though, you and Marky-Mark, have a similar taste in paint. :) (I know where his house is LOL).

Yeah I have one, back in NY. Not bringing it anywhere till I'm somewhere permanently, and can scrap the rinky-dink 13B and put an LS1 in it.

Bah, that motor has 1/2 the potential of an LS1. I'd be able to smoke just about any rotary and still be breathing easy. That's down the road though, I'm getting a 911 before I do anything else to that car.

Welcome to the South. I could get a 2 bedroom luxury condo in Buckhead, with marble everywhere, a hot tub, LCD TV's, floor to ceiling windows, fully furnished with leather, and concierge service for about $3500 a month. I'd rather save money than blow it on something like that since I'm never home anyways.

Very standard fare for the area. Two weeks to build it from a dirt patch to ready to live in.

$1900 a month seems like highway robbery for a ticky tack vinyl siding house like that. Hell the mortgage on a place like that can't be more than $1000, $1200 tops.

It's cute though. :)

Try to find a new 3 bedroom pad around here for less. Actually I'm sure you can, but this is a nice neighborhood and it's real close to my office. I'm sure the mortgage isn't much more than $1000. But like I said, all bills are included, and the guy obviously wants to make some coin on the place.

I would too. Don't think a GT3 is going to be in the price range though.
Went for a ride this afternoon in my coworkers 2007 911. Black on Black, has the S wheel package. Very, very nice.

Yeah, those things are listed at around $130,000 I think. I don't know about dealer mark up with those things.

How much is the Carrera 4S? Around $90,000?

Brand new yeah. I wouldn't buy a new one though, I'm looking for one that's a couple years old, broken in with low mileage. I can find them in the
$50-60K range over here.

Yeah, buying a new Porsche almost seems ridiculous. Recently they've depreciated hard in the first 3 years off the lot. You can pick them up for about 30k less after some old guy has babied it.
Now if I was making more money, maybe I'd consider it. I'm at the stage of just wanting my first Porsche. Down the road I'll hopefully be able to afford a new one.

If I was single and living with my buddy, I would have a used 911, Shelby GT500 or some other kick ass car.

A $1,000 car payment and the insurance would not phase me. I made some $1,000 payments on my then new Mustang when I was single and living at home. Too bad a $400 payment would kick my ass right now. God damn responsibilities :D

Kids, say no to marriage.

Marriage is the reason I'm thinking about buying a Jaguar :bigthumb: Gotta love dual incomes.

I wouldn't mind having a Sports Car, but right now I want a luxury car to replace my aging college commuter Chevy Cavalier.

A Porsche would be nice, but that'd only get me locked under the jail right now. Maybe when I get closer to 30...

Yes, exactly!
I love the black on black, and black on tan. Second choice would be the silver with black interior. About the only color that would be a definite no is the blue. I'd rather have my first choice, but if I'm looking used I may have to settle. Won't be until next year though.

Mine is on her path to getting her Paralegal certification or whatever it's called. Her income would be limited right now and not worth paying outrageous child care costs. I like the white alot too. Probably one of the only cars that I would get in white actually.

Its crazy to think about, but one of the main things that pushed me to go through all of this school, career tracking, ass kissing, and work is the dream of owning a Porsche by my late twenties. Amazing that something as inanimate as a car could do that.

Efff that. 911 is my dream car, I'm going for it. I wouldn't drive an FD if you paid me. Not only is it old and have all the associated creaks, groans, problems, that the FC does, I don't like the looks of it. Plus an FD doesn't have anywhere near the ass status that a 911 does.

Went for another ride in that 911 again today, actually hit some back roads this time. My god I love that car. One of the most awesome things about it is how uncivilized the car feels. It has this gorgeous exterior and interior, yet when you are sitting there at idle you can feel the motor shaking the car. Not in a bad way, but it definitely lets you know that it's there.

R281
05-16-2007, 08:52 PM
Nice. How does that thing brake?

Some chick at work dated a guy with a 911. She didn't like feeling all the bumps in the road and the fact that there was no room for anything in that car. Chick, go figure.

Very solid. Had a couple of situations where I was grabbing on to the doors because I didn't know if the thing would stop quickly enough, but it was right on the mark. All around excellent vehicle.
It is a stiff ride, but it is very solid at the same time. Definitely not jarring in any way at all.

You know chicks. They would rather drive in a nice comfortable Mercedes.

I knew it would brake well. My buddy was told that his G35 could out brake a 911 by the salesman that sold it to him. I laughed.

Did the rear end slip out at all edit: while turning? The engine sits behind the rear axles right?

2ndGen.Rocket

Yeah it does. Did not notice any rear traction issues whatsoever. Then again, the car was being driven hard but not being pushed to it's full potential.
