Cosby 11-26-2007, 11:25 AM In May a friend and I are buying an old van/bus and converting it to an adventuremobile and traveling across the USA kayaking hot spots along the way. Do you have any suggested things we should stop in and see? The plan is to do the lower half of the USA and then come up the California coast to washington. I'm not particularly interested in the north east. Anyway, suggestions would be spiffy. mass extinction 11-26-2007, 11:56 AM Grand Canyon you can also cayak through the canyon, which is awesome Vert8813B 11-26-2007, 12:45 PM lol. Fuck you Chris. "I'm not particularly interested in the North East." We got White Castle up here brother. Cosby 11-26-2007, 01:33 PM Well, it's just that I've been up there a lot and there just isn't that much that I want to see. Grand Canyon is definitely on the trip. Anything else? Herschel 11-26-2007, 02:47 PM There are lots of good places to go kayaking/canoeing in northwest Arkansas. The Buffalo river and the Mulberry river are two stand outs. I think there is some extreme stuff also (waterfalls and such, Cat. 5 (?)), but it's nice and relaxing for sure. wotnartd 11-26-2007, 05:10 PM I like some of the more touristy areas. -Carlsbad Cavern is pretty cool As far as cool places to see, Supper pretty much tagged them all, except for Copper Harbor, MI which is pretty much God's country. Grand Canyon is cool too. rodney87 11-26-2007, 11:30 PM I knew you'd come through supper :) It's going to be a bitch planning this trip. try to plan as little as possible if you've got the time. Makes for more fun stories :bigthumb: Cosby 11-26-2007, 11:55 PM Wow! Thanks for the kick ass map! We're looking for Volkswagen Vanagons to make the trip in. It'll be the shit traveling like dirty hippies. We're planning on the trip taking a few weeks or so. I can work from the road as long as I can get cell phone service. wotnartd 11-27-2007, 02:03 AM Copper Harbor, MI Some good roads and you can kayak Lake Superior. Tofuball 11-27-2007, 07:02 AM Volkswagen Vanagons I have one thats totally stripped out that you can have for free. You gotta find an engine for it though ;) It's an 83. Cosby 11-27-2007, 12:20 PM I appreciate the offer but I'm looking for something that has insides and an engine :) Tofuball 11-27-2007, 02:51 PM Man, you're too picky. KEP sells an adapter kit that will let you mount your rotary in there :P adamfriendofadam 11-27-2007, 10:09 PM Meteor Crater Car Hinge (can't remember exactly where that was :( ) Cosby 11-27-2007, 10:55 PM I'm way ahead of you. I'm probably going to rebuild the stock engine but I'm definitely going to price a rotary. Man, you're too picky. KEP sells an adapter kit that will let you mount your rotary in there :P Tofuball 11-28-2007, 07:47 AM Stock engine sucks. Stick a GN motor, or a 60 degree V6 (such as the LQ1 or the 3400), in there with a decent Porsche 6-speed. Nothing like double the power, quadruple the reliability, and better fuel economy. ;) berto5154 12-23-2007, 09:05 AM that list of places is awesome |
