I'm bragging because I am lined up to hit 6 figures for the first time in my life. All I have to do is pass this welding course I'm currently taking and a criminal, drug, credit background check that examines everything I have ever done in my life since 18 years old. Believe it or not, I'm good to go.
Powerhouses and nuke plants in my area require a certification to weld using a 227 machine. See pic below.
The problem? Nice to bring home $4500 a week but it's 7/12s and the possibility of living in a man camp. Which to say I won't see much of anyone or my family for the duration of this project.
If I last a year without getting into a fist fight with someone who reminds me of YZF, I'll be debt free.
I am going to go through with this. Wouldn't you?

If you are only looking at a year on this one, do it.
7-12's isn't bad so long as you have a reason to be doing it. After the year, if you are debt free, drag up and find something a little easier on the hours. Or do it for two years and have a shitload in the bank.

$4500 a week? that's awesome....7-12s is no life, what is the duration?
what is your specialty when it comes to welding? good welders are artists
is that you in the pic?
Naw, that isn't me. I found the pic on the internet.
The duration is how long I want it to last. The company has jobs in the books for 5 States that extends to at least 5 years.
I weld schedule 40 carbon steel pipe. The pipe I usually put together is for commercial HVAC systems. That is, everything that involves moving hot water, chiller and condensate fluids throughout the building. This time I will be welding heavy ass schedule 120 pipe used to carry steam for the steam generators. Very likely I'll be exposed to radiation since I am the new kid on the block. Therefore I am not telling my family this. But maybe I'll grow a penis from my forehead. Wouldn't that be a good coming home present for my wife?
