So I had the fine experience this weekend of getting robbed at gunpoint while a half a block from my house. I had parked in my neighbors of two doors down's house when I saw this car creep up and park with the lights on behind me. I knew it was sorta suspicious the entire time, but I put it in the back of my mind and got out of the car and walked towards my house. I then remembered I had left my laptop in the car, and decided to go back really quick to retrieve it. As soon as I open the passenger door, I hear footsteps running towards me. Guy in a ski mask points a gun against my chest and pulls the hammer back, then says to me "where's the money"?

I swear, guys. My jaw dropped. I felt like I was in some sorta shitty ass crime movie. This black dude was a bit shorter then me and really didn't look all that into it, so instantly my mind started racing about how I could try to turn this situation around and either disarm or kill the guy, but I thought about it and realized I shouldn't be too hasty to react in case his gun actually did have ammo in it. I raise my hands and tell him frankly "Look, man. I don't have any money." But then he fishes through my pants pockets and takes my wallet and my new Blackjack phone before hauling ass back towards the car and taking off, not even bothering to try and take my keys to my MX-5, my watch, or my laptop bag even though it was on my shoulder. Fuckin' n00bs.

I noticed they took the license plate off the rear of their caprice, so they must have been casing the neighborhood in search of a target to hit, and I just happened to win the grand prize... As soon as they made a right turn off my block I noticed they started driving semi- normally, so I thought about chasing them down in my car, but realized I was driving on dead tags (expired Dec, dunno how I've been driving around so far like that) and didn't know what I was going to do after with no cell phone to call the cops or a weapon to defend myself. I pretty much just sighed heavily and went inside to hit up 911 to put in a police report.

So yeah, even though I totally got pwned by a two man amateur squad who seemed to have learned everything from TV, the even funnier part to this story is that all he managed to loot was an empty wallet with dino stickers, two condoms, and a bunch of cards that no longer work. Only thing I'm somewhat worried about is my ID and social, but if my hunch is right they probably will ditch my wallet somewhere in the neighborhood once they see I'm broke and keep my phone to resell. I'll go out and look for both tomorrow when it's light out.

But man, what an end to my weekend... Just when I thought life was awesome, niggas just gotta come around and fuck up your mindset.

I did learn that MD has a concealed weapons permit program tonight, though....

Call your cellphone provider immediately. They can block the ESN, and anyone trying to have the phone activated will have it confiscated instead.

Yeah, already took steps to close out everything I had as soon as I got done talking to the officers that came to make a report.

I just hope they either fuck up soon, or throw both items out the window once they realize they're of no real use to them so I can find em.

I agree, it'll be something I look into after I hit the MVA for a new license and a tag renewal in the morning.

But to be honest, after I spent some time with "The Chemist" and "Reclining Buddha", I'm laying back in bed just thinking about how well I came off in that situation. I mean, I still have my laptop with an awesome movie I just dubbed in it's leather case, he didn't take my car and have his other buddy drive, nor did he try and search my car for extra goods, upon which he would have found a dead MP3 player that retails for around $300+ and probably $3.89 - 5.00 worth of change in various coins.

No CDs stolen, hopefully no glass will be broken later, a set of dino stickers that on the back of was signed by a very attractive lady I met at BootyCon, a phone that I bought for $75 dollars with a $100 rebate with my friend's numbers inside (kept my old RAZR, so my contact list is still somewhat intact), approx. $1.75 and two condoms I carry around as my own "concealed protection".

A robber that I really didn't take too seriously, and his semi-decent driving getaway asshole buddy.

Two condoms... lol, I just hope they don't try to get revenge for such a lame heist...

so let me get this straight...

a guy points a real handgun in your face, and cocks the hammer. And you arent worried because you have a pellet rifle in your house? I hope you dont actually think that it will scare them off if they come back, do you? For starters, they are obviously already in the habit of having their weapons drawn and pointed at you when they approach, so if they come back, you will see their guns when you see them--no time for you to say "hold on fellas" and grab that toy gun. What you are actually doing at that point, in that scenario, is inviting a bullet to be fired at you. You dont know what kind of thugs youre dealing with--if they really dont give a shit then they will just shoot your ass the minute they see you reaching for your weapon.

Go check the laws concerning requirements for your concealed carry permit, if you really feel that a weapon is your best choice. Based on what just happened, you should not have a hard time getting it, as long as you meet all the requirements. In MD, they require this kind of thing to have happened to most applicants before they will approve their permit request. Dont know why, but thats how they do it up there. But dont EVER think that a toy gun will work as a substitute when your opponent isnt using a toy, but a real gun. That is just inviting disaster if they call your bluff.

Thanks for the info, and no I meant that I'll just have to make do with my pellet gun in the meantime till I can get a real sidearm and the permit to carry.

Luckily yesterday was a pretty silent night with no hints of a return hit. I realized that the ID that he stole had my old house address on it anyway, so as far as they know they have no real idea where I currently live.

lol, thanks guys. I feel quite a bit better today after everything's said and done. Still sucks that I had to replace all my IDs and cards, but I kinda lucked out. Since my tags are expired, I had to get a new registration card for my car which replaces the dead one in my old wallet, and I've been meaning to get a new driver's ID since the one that was stolen had the address of the old house I was renting at about a year ago.

Only way I could see things getting worse is if they remember my car later and decide to come back when the heat's a bit off.

Well, I still have my passport, so that'll have to do as a second form of ID for now, till I can go about getting a replacement. But I'm not TOO worried, like I said...

I mean, if you have the balls to pull a gun on someone and not try to take them for everything they're worth while you have them at point blank range, obviously fucking them over isn't on your priority list. I'm betting this was just an initiation ritual (Ski mask and back license plate taken off = Pre-meditated. But I doubt they had a clue who I was or even where I lived, especially since they didn't try to bumrush me as I was walking to my house the first time) or just some sort of bored bet/attempt to get easy money from a well dressed black guy in a silver vert.

No one should carry their SS in their wallet, as well as unneeded CC. In CO, you can put your SS on your license, but you can always opt out on that.

Thats just asking people to steal your identity.

That lifelock, where the owner puts his SS on the commercial, actually someone opened up a $500 dollar loan on it recently....

For shizzle. They wanted to do the INPASS system for passports here (RFID [Remote Frequency Intelligent Diode]) meaning a passport system similiar to the concept of E-Z Pass (Proximital passport checkins) but in europe where they have been using it, many people have been getting their identities jacked.

LOL. The "burbs" around DC are some of the nicest places to live in America. Both Montgomery County and Northern VA (principally due to Bethesda, McLean, Great Falls, Potomac, and Leesburg) have placed in the richest zip codes as often as anywhere else in the United States.

West of center, DC and it's environs is not dangerous at all, certainly less so than, say, Hampton Roads.

East DC and Eastern MD near the District are another story I suppose.

My firm is working on half a billion worth of real estate developments in SE DC down by the new ballpark, an area that used to be a real wasteland. Most of that part of the city will be thoroughly gentrified in the next 10 years and it'll work upward to there. We're already buying up properties for teardowns on NY Avenue, stuff we won't actually move on for maybe 5-8 years.

A chip is not always a processor. Also, a crystal diode as used in crystal radio receivers transmits and responds to radio waves.
