Animal 11-14-2006, 07:18 PM ...There've been a bunch of people moving out, one of them is the people I've been leeching wifi from. The next closest open one I can barely hold a connection to. :( Thinking about suburbanbroadband.com rather than qwest again. Bleh. Animal 11-16-2006, 10:14 PM yay! So... old neighbors moved out and took internet with them, new neighbors moved in.... and I have internets again! :D <rant> Also, fuck homeland security. They won't let me activate a new startac phone because it's not GPS-compatible. Time to show these tards what i'm made of... the ESN is burned into and EEPROM chip. I know how EEPROMs work, and making programmers for them isn't terribly difficult. Hell, unsoldering it and swapping it with the old phone would work too. Although some non-Verizon-owned 3rd-party providers will still activate non-GPS phones. So... tomorrow I call around and see if tehy can do it for me. </rant> Supper 11-16-2006, 11:45 PM heh. Just do it yerself and stick it to "da man" :D DeRFmAn 11-16-2006, 11:59 PM LOL, Your sig is da bestest evar^^^ jhammons01 11-17-2006, 11:06 AM Also, fuck homeland security. That is not Homeland Security!!!!! that is Verizon being worried that they'll get sued for not being able to track you via GPS enabling if you are dialing 911. Whoever told you it was Homeland Security was blowing smoke up your skirt.......Alice. If you sign a waiver, Verizon will reconnect to that older phone. Just don't go back to BS central and try to get it done. Animal 11-17-2006, 07:59 PM w00t. So I ended up yanking the guts outta my old one and putting them in a new one. Hinge works, screen's brighter, buttons click, case snapped back together real nicely, can't even tell it was torn down and rebuilt. Unfortunately the charging circuit and datajack on the bottom are a part of the main guts, so that still doesn't work. I may take one of the other ones to work and swap out the datajack, see if that fixes things any. Fuckers. Zero 11-17-2006, 09:56 PM That is not Homeland Security!!!!! You're right, it's the FCC. To the other dumbass: 1: Stop being a turd, buy your own internet drop. 2: Bill Clinton was in office the last time a star-tac was made... stop being a douche. Supper 11-18-2006, 03:34 PM 2: Bill Clinton was in office the last time a star-tac was made... stop being a douche. how is using old, proven, technology being a douche? I'm about ready to burn this piece of shit Razr and go back to the startac thats on the shelf. |
